Ready.

Here they are - the new ground tiles for the TTD-TGR forest. Still have to split them into separate tiles and to create the snow covered trees for the arctic climate, but that won't be so much work.

edit: Done. (Although with this version of trees the forest looks a little bit like crap, I find... http://wiki.openttd.org/index.php/Graph ... #Buildings)
Also created a more smooth/shaded looking version out of mdhowes trees for a more consistent style.

Had time today and created a little urban addition ;) - the statue.

Hope u like it. (And I hope that the company colors will work as I want them to work.)

@George: Hey, that would be really cool. Of course you can integrate it, I would be happy :)! Look at the wikipage linked in the post above, there you can find the ready developed version.

@prissi: Thanks. Originally they came from mdhowe, I just created the snow-covered version.

How shoud I name it? What was the prototype? "statue of ... (whom?)"

"Statue of Red*Star"
 Just kidding. The statue in OTTD is also just called "statue", and because it's the statue of the company owner it would be better if it has no name.
If you still want to give it a name, you can take "Captain Cook statue", because I used that statue of the Hyde Park (Sydney) as model.

Uuhm... yes... why? That one you as a transport company can build in a city... eeerm _let_ build of course... you _know_ what I mean, don't you?

Could you post original photo, that you used to draw the statue?

Googled:

Btw, that's really fun creating sprites :D. I've also started working on an oil rig little time ago. Needs more shading, I know... What a pity that I have very rarely time for that...

just ugly!

Indeed; It doesn't fit the TTD enviroment at all.

I think it looks good. Just because it doesn't fit the ottd environment doesn't mean it looks bad.
And if all graphics are replaced, the ottd environment will look different anyway, so it might fit in nicely.

it still is ugly.

Two important points:
You _find_ it ugly.
and
_You_ find it ugly.

That's a very important difference to "it IS ugly". ;)

However, don't be so severe, it is a WIP. I'm working on it, cause you are right - it doesn't fit very well in the OTTD environment. (An oil rig is not so easy to create, even WITH original photos.)

Maybe now it does.

I don't think it is ugly. It is very nice, indeed. Red*Star, just remember heliport landing should be at the same place.

To these who think it's ugly: it doesn't fit TT theme as much as most other newgrfs, especially new buildings and stations

The situation is not quite the same though. The newgrfs are optional things. What we're trying to do here is develop new graphics that completely replace any graphics from the original TTD and these new graphics would become the new standard.

Personally, I have to agree with some of the others in that the style of (the old version of) the building just seems "off" compared to the regular TTD look. There's just a different feel to it at the moment that makes it stand out in not such a good way. Other than the look, the design and shape of the platform are okay though, with sufficient detail to not make it look too bland.

The new version looks better already, though it might be worth it to see it "faked" into a screenshot again before it's all over just to check the look-and-feel again.
