I probably will, it just needs more drawing and coding  I wanted to release this ship :)
I think it would work with "just" coding: you could use re-colour sprites for those.

Also: you start to earn the name "the machine", too ;-) - very lovely ships :-)

It'd be nice if we could have a few wooden ships for early play and steam ships before diesels, then maybe nuclear ones later (they do exist, just not as much, but would probably be cheaper to run since nuclear fuel lasts long between fills up then fossil fuels).

Nuclear Fuel actually would be - due to the technical requirements of maintainance, highly skilled personnell and security measures - a bit more expensive.

I doubt its usefull - rather go over to Fuel Cell or Fusion in the far future - like past 2050.

Therea are already some nuclear powered ships: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_ma ... sion#Civil
But so far only icebrakers proved to be usefull.

Still, it'd be nice to have Wooden Ships, then Steam, then Diesel\Oil, then Nuclear or something like that. Each generation would be a little faster, hold more, and be a bit more reliable and effcient so there would be lower running costs except for wooden ships since they dont need fuel, just man power and wind.

Might be better discussed in the development thread, thanks chaps.

Any more faster ships planned? I don't think most of these ships will be anywhere as profitable as a train would be.

 Tough cookies. Big cargo ships won't be going any faster. They seem to make money in every game I've used them in ;) See next comment...
- And I expect you already thinking of it: it would be really great if this set contain its own speed boats
Faster passenger ships will definitely be added some time. I'm planning hovercraft, hydrofoil, waterjet ferry etc.
There might be a hovercraft that refits to cargo, but the capacity will be limited and it will be expensive to run :)
There will be a faster 'utility vessel', this will be based on the kind of ship that is used to move supplies to oil rigs. It will be about 36mph, with a passenger capacity of 100. Cargo capacity will probably be lower. (1 passenger != 1t of cargo)

They won't. By a rough guess, they are about half as profitable as a UKRS train for the same distance in the game I'm currently playing.

Ships don't need infrastructure, and their networks don't get congested. They also last longer. :)

Suggestion, Barges...

Large, slow, medium capacity ships that can be used for realism and/or making a profit for short runs

Planned - with multiple sizes ;)

I started some graphics for these a while ago, didn't get around to finishing them yet.

Not only do barges come in different sizes they come in groups, I was watching river warriors on discovery and apparently you can couple many barges together as long as you have the power to move it. Something tells me ships are going to need to have their HP displayed eventually

And I think this would be a neat addition to the forest industry...
