Re: US Set Development Thread
Then, of course, comes the coding. I know Oracle popped his head in here a while back but he has not posted much since then. Life comes first and it will be done when it is done. But I would so like to see this set get updated. Ah what dreams may come.

Re: US Set Development Thread
There's not that much drawing still needed - there are a LOT of trains, liveries, and various sprites which have never been coded. I've got them all collected at the link I posted up a ways. What's really needed is a coder; once somebody seriously started work on a coding update, I'm sure a few artists would chip in the couple of remaining things.

Re: US Set Development Thread
If I can help in drawing, let me know what's needed to be do, and if I have time I might do it.
Re: US Set Development Thread
If you look here:
http://www.as-st.com/ttd/usa
you'll find several categorized tables listing trains or liveries that would be nice to have, but have not been drawn. There are also trains and liveries that have been drawn but not coded; the sprites are posted.
If you want any of the sprites that are already in the set for examples, I have them all archived and can post them for you.

I have some ideas on how to speed up such codeing, and i WILL make this for the dutch and bros set... I still have to put my idea into practiseandythenorth wrote:I would do the coding. Re: US Set Development Thread
Great work!
Is it possible for sb to code it?
And code it in the way allowing to change size of station (maybe only length)?
And is it indended to have nothing to carry FIRS bauxite?

I also want to release all these graphics for modification or use by any other artists on the board to improve whatever sets they wish.

Dang, I dunno why I never posted those graphics, but they look awesome!

Those station buildings look great and would be quite suitable to be added to the Canadian Stations Set; but we would need snowy variants ... any takers ?CharlieMTA wrote:I also want to release all these graphics for modification or use by any other artists on the board to improve whatever sets they wish.
Re: US Set Development Thread
I see there are a couple of offers to code. As far as I know the American Transition Set as it currently exists works in both TTDPatch and OpenTTD (with the exception of some of the new FIRS cargoes). Is it your intention that TTDPatch support be continued?krtaylor wrote:What's really needed is a coder;
If your intent is to have a purely Canadian set, those stations are US. The stations in the current Canadian archival release are all based on actual Canadian stations.OzTransLtd wrote:Those station buildings look great and would be quite suitable to be added to the Canadian Stations Set; but we would need snowy variants ... any takers ?CharlieMTA wrote:I also want to release all these graphics for modification or use by any other artists on the board to improve whatever sets they wish.

Why would we drop TTDPatch support? I'm not aware of any other set that has. It's possible that some features wouldn't work in TTDPatch.

Re: US Set Development Thread
My question was simply a precautionary one. With OpenTTD's flexibility (right word ?), it is all too possible to code for OpenTTD without consideration for the TTDPatch platform. Other than causing the TTDPatch player to occasionally drool with envy, this is not a problem. However, if an experienced OpenTTD coder were to take up the US Set cause ( Highly desirable ), one would hope that TTDPatch support be preserved.krtaylor wrote:Why would we drop TTDPatch support? Re: US Set Development Thread
I'm aware of that, but as nobody is going to draw Windsor station, the small South Station would be a good replacement.wallyweb wrote:If your intent is to have a purely Canadian set, those stations are US. ...
Re: US Set Development Thread
That would work. It could act as a placeholder and who knows, I may give that old Windsor a go myself.OzTransLtd wrote:I'm aware of that, but as nobody is going to draw Windsor station, the small South Station would be a good replacement.wallyweb wrote:If your intent is to have a purely Canadian set, those stations are US. ...

Re: US Set Development Thread
I'm currently working on North Station 1928-1994/8 & the adjoining Hotel Manger/freight annex. I'll post WIP images when I think the quality is satisfactory. There's a possibility of also creating the original North Union Station at some point depending on my schedule and if there is sufficient source imagery for the entire station.
However, there's no way in hell I'm drawing the new North Station 1994-present, as it is a concrete elephant which I hate with the power of a thousand burning suns.
What should I have in the pipe for later? Old Penn Station? Worcester Union Station? Some small Richardsonian stations?

Re: US Set Development Thread
I'd say, to finish the stations you've already drawn. By which I mean, converting them to TTD pallette and chopping them into the required separate sprites so the coder can more easily fit them together.
Then, GCT? Old Penn?
I had a list of attractive small stations on the tracking website.
