Well the Island Trader does have quite a big cabin area. There is a way to change capacity on refit. I haven't done it yet because I wonder if it's confusing to players if the capacity changes when refitting?
only 360, now try to fit it with illegals and you'll get capacity of 1440

One problem, the sounds doesnt seem to work for me, when the ship leaves port, i get the sound of a port / depot / buoy being placed on water??? Any ideas

Interesting. I haven't done anything to modify sound. Perhaps I've left out an action 0 property to enable correct sound

I also get this kind of sound. I didn't know... This is a bug??? I thought it was supposed to be like this.

i thought too that the sound suposed to be that way . Sounded strange, i never thought it was a bug , and even the monorail trains make that "splat" sound when leaving the stations (but that i think it's a conflict because of many grfs i use -doesn't bother me)
