Never mind then. I suppose you downloaded a prebuilt version then :D
I downloaded it from the link in the second post. :)

Patches may introduce bugs in the newgrf handling system. I apologise if my previous reply sounded a bit rude, but I just don't want to deal with FIRS not working in patchpacks. There's enough to do already... :wink:

congratulation!now we can play with something like 15000 on a 64X64 map :lol:
only one problem.in the cement factory,there is sand as one of the requirements,but there is no sand pit(yet?)

The set is still under development. Parts may not be included yet or be buggy. Don't download this if you just want to play, it's for testing... :roll:

For myself, I made a little scenario which displays what cargo goes from where to where, a schema of sorts.

I thought I'd share it with you guys.

Version of OpenTTD I used is 16762 (yesterday's nightly), so you will need about the same revision of OpenTTD or a higher one to load it.
Version of FIRS used is nightly r150, so the stuff in the scenario might not be valid anymore (or missing things that got added) when new versions of FIRS get released.

How does the recycling plant work? Does it need any special conditions to produce packaging?

In a test game, I'm delivering waste to a recycling plant, and have now built a line to transport packaging from it to a factory. The train is refitted to packaging and waiting (for full load) at the station, but nothing is produced.
Does it a) need engineering supplies for producing packaging?
b) need a certain amount of input before it produces packaging (and before it produces only scrap metal?) or any other fancy method of determining what to produce?

or is it c) a bug or d) NYI? :)

15 items of waste should produce 1 item of packaging and 1 item of scrap metal. The other 13 items are evaporated. The industry only supplies when there are 5 items of a cargo, so you need to supply 75 items to get any output.

15 items of engineering supplies produce 1 item of each as well.


This behaviour will change with the future implementation of the production callback.

FooBar's been busy :D New in FIRS r170:
- Glassworks (I count three different layouts)
- Dairy Farm (again I count three layouts)
- Meat Packer (just the one layout)
- Bakery (two layouts counted by me)

Ah, this explains why it doesn't produce anything in my test - I was delivering waste to it with trucks, who of course cannot deliver >=75 units at once.

Nice, but I only see r160, not r170.
edit: now r170 is also there. Downloading :)

edit2: I've updated my reference savegame (man, that was a hassle, moving stuff around :/)

Heh, this set is already good, truthfully I didnt expect to see a alpha or even a beta for a few months. So far some of the chains are completed or at least playable.

So far so good guys! Keep up the good work! :)

Yours truly failed to provide one yesterday night, as he got carried away with creating the OpenGFX 0.1.0alpha-5 release (which is due any minute now). I even dare say that there will be no r175 release, as I have the Machine Shop sprites sitting on my screen at the moment, so that one will be next :D

I just gave you r179. Compared to the last nightly (r170) this gives you a Textile Mill, Furniture Factory, Aluminium Plant and Machine Shop.

I'm especially interested in what the Machine Shop does in game. This has some callback code that other industries don't have. There's a slight chance that it doesn't produce anything due to this code. I haven't tested that myself yet, so please let us know if it misbehaves :]


PS: I said that I won't be announcing nightlies, yet I still do. This time is an exception because I like to have something tested by you, the public. :wink:

Well, I've just tested the Machine shop a bit and it seems to work well, no misbehaving as far as I can see :)
On both steel and aluminium input, it produced some farm supplies and some engineering supplies.

What about that text that it the machine shop builds and repairs engineering structures and machinery? That's just for flavor, isn't it? ;)

I've updated my demonstration scenario of the FIRS cargo chains to r179, adding the four new industries in appropriate places. Needs recent nightly (r16777+) to run.
