Re: Show us your network maps
I've used InkScape. As it is vector-based, it's very easy to work in details, without croppy images. But most important, textareas are really textareas, not just pixels, as in paint.jake.grimshaw wrote:I might be tempted into doing a few maps of my networks... if i could only find the right program
Might take a little while to learn to use though...
Re: Show us your network maps
A little passenger game that me and Chrill have been working on. Here's a very rough (it took about 10 mins) sketch of the network (it has no station names yet) and routes that we have. I've included the schemetic overlaid on the network map - some of the town names are interesting!
Edit - just realised I've missed off 1 visible line (see if you can find where it is), and a whole swath of Chrill's network to the west (off the map). Oops - I'll add it in sometime later.

Re: Show us your network maps
I'm very impressed with Spoorstrip - definately going to have to produce some network maps of my own soon.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to agree too well with a 1440x900 screen resolution, so I can't see all the icons I want damn monitor - it won't let me use native 1680x1050 anymore.
Here's an imaginary one I threw together as an experiment - took about 10 mins, half of which was working out what button does what
Edit:
Handige Harry, the creator of Spoorstrip, has been kind enough to give permission to distribute the program, so I've attached it below in case anyone else wants it.
His email address is spoorstrip@gmail.com in case anyone wants to thank him or comment on the program.

Re: Show us your network maps
It's a shame there's doesn't seem to be a program for producing them - spoorstrip is excellent for individual routes and lines (ie a main line and branches off it) but it gets a bit huge if you try to do a whole network.

Re: Show us your network maps
Here's a couple I made a while back. There's actually two from the same game, so you can see the evolution of the network.

Re: Show us your network maps
It's quite interesting how the messide line evolved to include nanhill and tadnor end. I tend to find that my lines actually diverge more during the game, rather than combining.

Yeah, but I think in this case AshKyd was going for something you might see posted on the wall of the station, or on a sign.
Re: Show us your network maps
i saw what ©Copyright is wrong construction. its sounds "copyright copyright"
Re: Show us your network maps
Actually, that's the copyright symbol - it's not a shorthand for the word copyright.
Normal usage is indeed Copyright © (Person/organisation) (Year)

Network Map
(Not a cross post, honest )
Anyways, here's my latest (slightly preliminary efforts) on the mapping front, more details are in my thread.
Trying to fit everything on in and still be readable was tricky (whether I've succeeded or not is debatable). At the very least it's helped a lot with my planning and working out what to do next...
Done in MS Visio (not that MS made it easy, pita to get it to do what you want it to do...)
