[OTTD] Chrill's Screenshots
Re: [OTTD] Chrill's Screenshots [Updated: 8 November]
To be honest, the TTRS roads look fairly similar to Swedish roads. There is not much you would change if you made "Swedish roads" to your set.

Re: [OTTD] Chrill's Screenshots [Updated: 9 November]
The year is now 1907. The economical situation of Hawthorn & Co improved radically in the late 1800s and three major projects were undertaken:
1. Hallstahammar - Trelleborg ring line
2. Ljungby - Stockvik mainline
3. Train Updates
The first picture is an overview of Hallstahammar with it's 4-platform terminus. Trains run from here to basically everywhere else. In the specific picture, you see a 2-6-0 Mogul from Nässjö (see routemap) entering the station:
Ljungby is a station added a long time ago but only recently has it received a sufficient amount of trains. With the opening of the huge new mainline between Stockvik and Ljungby, train travels at Ljungby station sky rocketed. It's estimated that the increase of passengers amounted to 500% over the year Stockvik to Ljungby was opened, 1903. The station itself is rather boring, nothing special about it whatsoever:
To finish off, the 1907 routemap. Note the extensions both to the north and to the south:
1. Hallstahammar - Trelleborg ring line
2. Ljungby - Stockvik mainline

Re: [OTTD] Chrill's Screenshots [Updated: 12 November]
Two more screenshots and the routemap of 1921.
The newest branch added to Hawthown & Co's network is the one strecthing all the way to Gävle and Vetlanda, two large cities. On their way there, the route passes a small village named Stockholm. Climbing the mountains was deemed too dangerous, but construction was begun anyway, in hope of large profits when opening the line to the two large cities. The following two pictures are both part of the Gävle branch. 37 lives were lost during construction of the branch, and a memorial ground has been built in Gävle.
Stockholm and surroundings: Gävle, Vetlanda and surroundings: A 1921 routemap:
A shortened list of work performed lately:
Complete rebuild of Ljungby station and entry to the station.
Local Bålsta - Trelleborg built.
Rebuilding of the Höllviken - Västerfors, route electrified and run with Baldwin Boxcabs.
Extension built from Stockvik to Luleå and Borås.
Local Ljungby - Skoghall route constructed,
Local Falköping - Västervik route constructed and electrified.
Local Falköping - Växjö route constructed.
Complete upgrade of train stock.
Feel free to throw requests at me and I'll do my best to please you!

Re: [OTTD] Chrill's Screenshots [Updated: 12 November]
I wouldn't want to be on that train in the second screen - what with the bridge support being right on the track...
Re: [OTTD] Chrill's Screenshots [Updated: 12 November]
Indeed, but other bridges I found realistic to use in the 1920s proved no better.

Re: [OTTD] Chrill's Screenshots [Updated: 12 November]
what are those trains your using?
I'm leaning on a lamp.
Re: [OTTD] Chrill's Screenshots [Updated: 12 November]
The size of Stockholm is a bit inappropriate isn't it

These are NARS 2.03, I believe.hectobar wrote:what are those trains your using?
Quite, which is why I decided to include a picture of the tiny village that Stockholm is! I do find these Swedish town names quite funny, because sometimes they turn out rather accurate (I for example run a "Pendeltåg" route which ends in Bålsta - the actual end of one of Stockholm's commuter rail routes)Irwe wrote:The size of Stockholm is a bit inappropriate isn't it

Cool, I have to try out the swedish town names and see if a route turns out the way I take the train home everyday to VästerhaningeChrill wrote:These are NARS 2.03, I believe.hectobar wrote:what are those trains your using?

I've never seen a Stockholm Södra, an Älvsjö or a Farsta Strand. Further than Farsta, I am not familiar with the train stations southbound I know there's a Krigslida though!!Irwe wrote:Cool, I have to try out the swedish town names and see if a route turns out the way I take the train home everyday to Västerhaninge

If you assemble a list, I can make a GRF with only Stockholm names

Re: [OTTD] Chrill's Screenshots [Updated: 12 November]
There are some names that looks weird, and such. Hudiksvall was in there, for example. Also, Vallenum was the name of a town?? Overall though, it looks nice!! As long as one doesn't load the GRF with the regular "Swedish town names generator"

Re: [OTTD] Chrill's Screenshots [Updated: 12 November]
OK, I had already fixed the name of the name set (updated previous post), will look at the others when I feel like it
Edit: I might fix Hudiksvall sometime, but Vallen-um is a result from the two-part fake name generator that is included to make sure you can generate as many names as is needed.

Re: [OTTD] Chrill's Screenshots [Updated: 12 November]
Three sets of screenshots coming up!! Total of 8 pictures and one roadmap! Let's just get started.
The year is 1935. The setting is a new branch from Tranbro. This particular picture shows us Halmstad. The outermost platform is exclusive to the electric train running a link between Halmstad and Falby to ease movement from the mainline to this branchline. The steam train in the middle platform is running the actual branch line.
From a small branch line to a large, and very old, branch line. This is west of the original hub Höllviken. Gustavsberg, the first town to see train service, has grown insanely. In the end, Hawthorn & Co. decided to build a station house, add a second platform and extend services to the small town of Katrineholm. That is the branch line to the west, where the steam train is coming from! Also worth noting is the bus service to ease the load on trains between Gustavsberg and Höllviken. They're not helping much but every little bit of help is necessary - this area will need major reconstructing in the future.
To the north, a new mainline has been constructed from Landskrona to Malmö. Along it, this station was built. This sees the introduction of electric trains onto the mainlines of our network. Upplands Väsby is also famous for it's ancient coal mines, the oldest in the world still regularly used today.

Re: [OTTD] Chrill's Screenshots [Updated: 29 November]
1945:
In the western extremities of the network, a local service is offered between the end of the northwest mainline, Säffle, to the village of Ljunginge. Buses transport people from Åkersberga to here, and the town is soon to see boats arriving from Katrineholm as well (remember the Gustavsberg - Katrineholm branch? Routemap will inform you)
Did I not mention that Säffle was the end of a new mainline? That mainline terminates here, in Landskrona. Landskrona was once part of a small branchline itself, but was rebuilt into the terminus for the new mainline after large growth in the town. Seen here in one of it's busier moments. The two upper platforms are dedicated to electric trains from the Malmö mainline (where Upplands Väsby is one of the stops).
There is no real point in adding this picture - the airplane service to Umeå from Höllviken has been around for a few years now. This picture simply looks beatiful.
