[RELEASE] Berlin Subway Historical Pack v1.4

Posted: 22 Aug 2006 13:52
by strongbow
This pack includes the Berlin Type C train from the year 1930, which was "exported" to Moscow and St.Petersburg after WW2. It also includes a subway station, similar to the Schoenhauser Allee one in Berlin. These trains and the station are a part of the S+U-Bahn Pack on locomotion-fanpage.net, created together with SQ and Stepke.

Update to v1.01:
The Moscow V2 train had the same name as the Gresley V2, so I changed it to V3. There were V1, V2 and V3 units in Moscow, all looking very similar, so this should be accurate enough for Locomotion purposes and detail level. My next DATs will feature prefixes for sure. ;)

Update to v1.02:
The train station has all windows half-transparent as Loco's default stations.

Update to v1.1:
All trains have separate bogies for smooth curve running.

Update to v1.2:
Corrected the brightness of the station to better fit in with the default game buildings and changed to a proper sound for road crossings.

Update to v1.3:
Updated the platform graphics to better fit the bridges in the game and changed the name of the station to Elevated station or Hochbahnhof in german as that's what it actually is.

Update to v1.4:
Improved graphics of the V1 unit.

Includes:

-Berlin Subway-

C.dat - Type C unit
CS.dat - Type C unit, red smoking wagon livery

-Moscow Subway-

V1.dat - V1 unit in early brown/beige colors
V3.dat - V3 unit in latter blue/green livery

-Subway Sound-

SNDmetro.dat - Metro starting Sound (same as in the Prague Metro Pack)

-Subway Station-

TRSTATS.dat - elevated station, similar to Schoenhauser Allee station

Thanks to:

Seelenquell for help with XML coding and applying the Loco palette
Stepke for building the S+U-Pack on locomotion-fanpage.net
Damage for help with bogies

Not much interest, eh? Luckily there's still the germans. :P

Anyway, here's a final render. I'll do the other versions first and then put them ingame.

Looking good and interesting.

BTW, I forgot to tell you, there are some small corrections about your Moscow metro trains. More info later, I'll PM you if you want to hear about that.

Of course! I've tried to make them as close to real as possible (except for the stupid Loco colors), but let me know if there's anything to improve!

yeah that's the same thing i think when i see your trains. maybe we should write ourself some bot-program that automatically adds a "looks cool!" comment to our threads. :P

rofl.. maybe we can ask some mod to add a script. so after each post of you it would post a "looks cool" from me and so on..

anyway the model is very very detailed.. makes me wish i would have 3ds *s*

ok, but after every post with an attachment. it would look strange if i just argue with someone and there would be a "cool!" post from you after each one of mine.

why? you're doing great with C4D! software is unimportant, it's the skill that matters.

actually i had to install C4D last year, cause i got mesh data for a tv-intro i did for Kinderkanal in it. then some wild converting to 3ds via FBX came.

little offtopic.. whats the problem with fbx? i converted my truck-mesh to fbx and a customer imported it without problems.. all the materials are there, all the colors. something you can´t expect from 3ds. all you can expect from 3ds is a massive load of triangles. something every 3d-prog. should HATE.. hehe.
unfortunately i can´t import MAX so the only way is fbx sometimes. i prefer c4d because of 2 things..

1. renderspeed
2. user-interface

Well somehow FBX export from 3ds is broken or something. I use OBJ to export meshes with quad faces to Maya.
1. renderspeed
2. user-interface

that's why i prefer 3ds max. :P but let's not get into that discussion, as long as you can use a 3d program to it's best abilities, it doesn't matter which one you use.

WIP of the subway station. Still needs refinement on the model, then the colors and maybe some textures... Takes time.
