That would look good, but can they animate them to jump out of the water?

Now some bad news.

Been informed a short time ago that internet will be turned off here from Friday 25th to Tuesday 30th to allow maintenance to be carried out. (I presume that be from midnight tonight) in about 4 hours time.

The President here warned all providers if they don't improve their services by Christmas he will shut them down. So looks like our provider and a few others going to do something about it.

So hope 1st October services should be back and better.

That gives me 5 days to work on my beaches, but not enough time to enter the beach competition.

Cheers all ..

EDIT:

The closing date for the screenshots been extended to allow me the chance to get a entry in. So get your entries in too. Make a model of your favorite beach. Not matter it your favorite swimming place is the surf, lake or river. It still a beach. I like to swim in the bath tub but that not accept as a beach unfortunately.

So give it a try .. there some great object sets out there that you can use and in my set there are 4 sets that have water and parks in them .. AuzWaterObjects, AuzWaterAddOns, AuzTownObjects and AuzBeachObjects.

You will find them all in this forum .. just scroll back through the last several pages and you will find them.

Submissions will close the morning of Saturday, October 3rd, 2020 at 8AM Atlantic Daylight Time (ADT).

Internet suppose to be off here, but it still on.

See news item last night that provider notified their clients Wednesday last week of the disruption. I only found out yesterday via my kids internet schooling when the teacher told them.

Provider this morning drove down the street with loud speaker going saying internet will be turned off at 1 pm till September 30. Did not say if it actually be back on on the 30th, or will it be off that day too.

Next several days I be working on the Newcastle Seawalls for the AuzBeachObjects.

I like to make the make autolay seawalls look like these.
Newcastle Seawalls01.png
Newcastle Seawalls01.png (58.96 KiB) Viewed 2627 times
Showing a little bit of sand and rocks below the lower pathway.

You will be able to have a choice if want a small beach area or a large area.

When you wish to add the buildings and picnic areas, special pieces will be made to allow transition.

Each set will have 2 sets .. one with and 1 without people.

Hope have these finished when I get internet back on one day next week.

Cheers all

Internet still on here .. don't know what happening .. will it go off shortly or will I be safe tonight.

anyway .. since I thought be no internet I concentrated on the AuzBeachObjects .. particularly the Newcastle Seawalls.

I changed the graphics to all pieces so they all have same path way design and can be used with the pathways in AuzTownObjects.

This a image to what I been doing.

The corner pieces with the top wide path was a suggestion from "fridaemon" .. I think he has a idea to use them in screenshot competition, so with respect, I request if your entering the competition you don't use those corner pieces in your entry.

But you can use all the rest.

All the Newcastle Seawalls pieces have had ID, graphics and some name changes .. so download at own risk in your game you have in progress. You most likely have to rebuild the Newcastle seawalls again.

I better send in case internet goes off soon.

Cheers

Sorry all I either going crazy or I already am.

I did a test file to try those corner pieces to make sure they align properly, then I transferred them to the AuzBeachObjects.nml and forgot to convert it to a game file.

So here the update.

A little alteration to the camping in AuzTownObjects.

The tents with camp fires had no one look after the fires .. so most of them now have people.

Been having a try making Heathrow airport Cargo Terminal.

This where I up to at the moment. Ignore the yellow walls, they there as a guide as easier to see where pieces go.

Still need to do the loading bays and stairs and the support beams for the awning as not how they should be .. they just a guide at moment to see how things might fit.

The office sections has 2 people in them to get a idea of a height.

So whatcha think ..

Beginning to look very recognisable!

But I think It has to be way higher.

Try and count the side-panels to get an idea of the relative dimensions:

First the front:
Example 01.png
Example 01.png (370.19 KiB) Viewed 2188 times
Now the side:
Example 02.png
Example 02.png (843.64 KiB) Viewed 2188 times
Also, I think that the roof isn't flat.
The highest point is where the curve begins towards the front and it slopes a bit down towards the airplane side.
Couldnt find a good picture of the side showing that, but this might give an idea of the slope downwards:
Example 03.png
Example 03.png (421.77 KiB) Viewed 2188 times
Finally, keep in mind that all of the above is counted from the top of the loadingbay. That height also has to be taken in account for the total height of the building.
I cant find any clear pictures showing that height, but judging from some side buildings that have the same sort of panelling, I think its roughly 10 panels high.

So the total height is (at its highest point) roughly 32 panels, I think...

These arent hard numbers ofcourse, artist's discretion ;-)

If it 32 panels high, and I allow 2 pixels per panel, that be 64 pixels high. Hope planes in game don't hit it when taking off and landing  .

I stole a trailer from Polroad to compare the heights. I feel the awning and office section need to be a bit higher. The trailer is 9 pixels high so need at least 10 high for the awning and offices section.

Don't get paid overtime or night penalties here, so I calling it a night and try some more when I get my construction team active again.

I halved the number of panels, so reallife may be 32, in OTTD thats 16 then. Lowest part 8 (rather than 16-ish reallife)
The curves need a lot more work ofcourse but this could be a bit closer to reality, without changing too much of your work...

EDIT:
The lowest part isnt 8 (or 16 reallife) ofcourse…
Its 13 or 14 (so 27 reallife), I forgot the height of the loadingbay ;-)
So the roof doesnt go down as steep to the back, sorry

I think the height of the curved section could be half way between what you done and mine. Probably the the curved section I think double the size what I have.

BUT .. To get the height from ground to where curve starts, I might be best to start with the stairs.

This image shows the stairs of 6 sections to the spiral .. if I to work to some thought of scale each section would need to be at least 8 pixels as the people we us in game are 6 pixels height. The bit at bottom below the steps be about 4 pixels high so that makes it from ground to the start of the curved roof at least 52 pixels. I think from ground to the curve is close to half way so that means from ground to roof top could be 100 pixels.
Heathrow05.png
Heathrow05.png (135.03 KiB) Viewed 2048 times
Another thing that making it difficult is the loading bays. There is room for 5 trucks in each area plus room to spare.

This one I used Google Earth and it shows 4 trucks plus a empty bay.
Heathrow03.png
Heathrow03.png (218.41 KiB) Viewed 2048 times
Maybe I should adjust and make the awnings and office sections instead of 1 tile, maybe 1 1/2 tiles each. (3x1). Instead of 10 tiles long it end up being 15 long. It must be 6 maybe 8 tiles wide. So that makes it a very very big building.

Anyway I will do the stairs next see how that looks and plan from there.

I just did a flight of stairs for Heathrow Cargo Terminal.

I think trying to build it close to scale not going to work as it be definitely way to tall as these stairs show.

Making this terminal be nice, but I think I need to do a cut-down version.

Maybe stairs only 4 sections high. The roof curve could be double the size shown here.

Something for me to ponder on for a few days and decide which way to go.

Pondering got the better of me and just had to try an idea today.

Wondering how a cut down version would look. The curved roof section probably be made a bit bigger, but not till I do the sides and get the rest of roof design how needed. Knowing my luck if I change the curve now, will only need to change it again later.

Those stairs turned out very nicely!

A Heathrow inspired building is maybe the best way to go ;-)

Indeed the real building may be way too large to be used a lot in OTTD world (more of a landmark rather than a building that you place multiple times in a game)

The details in the facade are most important (loadingbay, stairs, awnings and offices) and I think you are getting those to look very nice.
The curve of the roof is less important, it should be there as it adds to the look of the facade, but doesnt have to be huge.
Keeping the roof flat will also help in maybe making the building modular (as a lot of your new offices/commercial-buildings are modular).

Some nice stuff for the sides (especially those pretty stairs) and a bit of eyecandy on the roof could be enough to finish this design off.

The spiral stairs will come in hand for future ideas as well. The carparks I made long time ago that overlap. These style of stairs would look good with those as well. Hope soon to get back to work with those and lower them like Kamnet asked many moons ago and actually make them multi-story of several levels.
A Heathrow inspired building is maybe the best way to go
I thinkso too .. make it as close as possible to that design but not need exact.

Looks like best I make it in 2x2 size blocks.

The block I been working on the far left if you see a full frontal image where the trucks are. But instead of 10 bays be only 6.

Next 3 all look similar but show only 2 bays each. Far right a bit different and it joins the office block. I hope I can do something similar.
Indeed the real building may be way too large to be used a lot in OTTD world (more of a landmark rather than a building that you place multiple times in a game)
True .. I thinking if someone played a 64x64 map, this building if I did it full size, it would take almost a 1/4 of the map :D So a cut down version the way to go.

Being white in colour it probably could be used with the other modular buildings at well. It a bit higher then the others, but when you look at some images of distribution centres they have sections where the roof it different heights.

The stairs on the side will probably need to be a separate 1x1 tiles and just place them beside the building where we want.
Some nice stuff for the sides (especially those pretty stairs) and a bit of eyecandy on the roof could be enough to finish this design off.
The roof will be interesting in the center. Not sure if those panels are Solar Panels or to let in light. The bit at each end that covers the side stairs will test me as there will most likely overlaps, or I just make them a separate tile.

We shall see what happens as ideas come to me .. Cheers pal.

I recommend combining with other objects to look even better and more beautiful visually. Yesterday I personally checked and saw many changes. The icons for roads and tramways are now separate, not like they used to be in the drop-down list.
Welcome to the forums. There are several sets made by others that work well with what I done. One day I get mine finished, but keep getting new ideas  If you think of any ideas , please mention them and see if me or one of the other coders could add it to their sets.

Cheers

Thanks for the bug report.

Interesting as I just tested in all Climates and did not get the white line.

Do they show the white line when you build them or is it just in the purchase menu?

Wonder if any on else having that same problem?

One thing you did find unintentional .. I have those Communication Towers in the wrong menu. They should be in Auz: Communication Towers.

Cheers pal

No problem! Yeah, they only have the glitch in the purchase menu.
