What's the deal with the mail?
I just started playing Locomotion, and this point is confusing me. It seems to be arbitrarily generated and picked up by the truck I bought, but it never seems to go anywhere. Does it have to be delivered?

Well, I was a bit eager to start playing...
Anyway, after I posted I got a little pop-up that said that a certain station now accepted passengers, so I guess it's the same with the mail; I didn't realise it took time to accept certain cargo. I'm working my way through the manual, but there was nothing in the index about mail so I figured I'd just ask...

Basically, each city building (house, office block) etc. accepts a certain amount of passengers, and maybe mail, food or goods. If you can get enough buildings in your station catchment area that mail is accepted (the amount of mail accepted goes over 1), you can drop off mail there.
Locomoation uses a moderately unrealistic system, in that you'll get paid for mail no matter where you deliver it. Cross town, or across the other side of the map, your call (although mail value drops right down to 0 if you take more than a few months to deliver it)

If you are just learning how to play TT TTD and Locomotion, all three are basicly the same, only grapics and way of building are improved heaps in locomotion.
Passengers and mail are brought in by placing railway stations and depo's close to town, i put 1 space between, just incase i need to expand the station.
(please note: Trains arnt the best to go with getting income by passengers and mail in early games... trams and buses are best choice)
Trains would be better off transporting goods, such as, Grain/Coal/Cattle, etc, as more can be carried over in 1 trip and its A LOT faster then 100 trucks going 2 one place...
Any more help u can find me on msn.... digitalasianstyle@hotmail.com
Or you can e-mail me at the same e-mail... ^^^^^^^
