New water v0.4b

----only for patch beta 5 and beyond----
this version is not valid for OTTD users (latest valid v0.3 <see first post>)

Thanks to lakie's feature now beaches get wider and wider.

Done:
-Wider temperate beach
-Wider tropic beach
-Improvements in arctic beach
-Compatible with MB's Alpine Climate (showing temperate coast)
newwaterw.grf should be after alpine.grf in newgrfw.cfg

Known bugs:
-in some angles the new coast tiles are not showed properly

Hm, while I appreciate the Alpine climate compatibility, I think you've made the beaches too wide. TTD doesn't allow proper beaches anyway, and coastlines with the new version of your water grf will just have big, yellow lines on them. The old beaches looked far better, and I'm also glad you've kept the Sub-Arctic coast mostly the same.

I'm not sure. What happens is that without a texture, they seem to wide. i'll have to try something on it. I appreciate your comment very much.

I agree that the Temperate/Alpine beaches are too wide, but the sub-tropic beaches look fine. I think it is that the color of the sub-topic beaches is realistic, while the temperate beaches are fake-looking because of it's yellowish color.

Sure. I hate this yellow too.

To be quite honest, I consider the latest beta's beaches to be a bit too wide. Something between the stable and the beta would be preferable for me.

I also echo the color comment re: temp beaches. Something slighly more earthy/dirty would probably look better.

There is a slight problem because they are alittle to wide, ie. it looks like sometimes it should be beaches too when they shouldn't be.
And yes it is a bit too yellow in the temperate beaches, but otherwise looking very nice.

About the color problem, let's face that:

(don't take into account that now it looks too plain)

3A looks most comparable to real paradise beaches...

But I don't think it fits the TT-World.

1B looks the best out of those colours, I think.

I like B (from textures image), except that the transition between grass and sand should be smoother.
It seems to me, that other textures have same orientation of "dunes" which looks strange - "dunes" on beaches should always be oriented to the sea, they are shaped by tides, not by winds.

The original is also usable, but here seems to be same edge on the grass and water side. The waterside edge should be a bit different.

In the textures mockup I would prefer B. The contrast of the structures in A and C-E is too extreme IMO
