[FIX]Running MSTS2Lomo on Vista

Post by Illegal_Alien »

Welcome to the Locomotion Problems section.

Running MSTS2Lomo on Vista
Hi, so you are having trouble with Vista and MSTS2Lomo? Well, here is a solution. But be warned, do this only if you know what you are doing, I or tt-forums isnt responsible for damage on your Windows Installation.

What you need to have:
- A Windows XP Installation (In this case located on the J drive)
- A Vista Installation (In this case located on the C drive)

What you need to do:
Now copy these files from your XP Installation (j:\windows\system32)
- COMDLG32.OCX (Also attached with MSTS2lomo)
- D3DRM.dll
- dx8vb.dll
To your Vista (c:\windows\system32)

In Vista:
Now do start -> run (Classic Start menu) or start -> Search (Vista Startmenu)

And type/copy paste these lines one for one;
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\COMDLG32.OCX
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\D3DRM.dll
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\dx8vb.dll

Your Vista will give you a window that its correctly registered.

The aftermath
Now install MSTS2Lomo and start it, it will work now.

(I will make a .zip file with a .bat and these files, so you can do it with just one click.)

edit: http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?p=721012#p721012 for more info. will still add Soon(tm) a userfriendly thingy.

don't you already posted this (in graphics)? :p

Anyways, it's good that those problems are fixed so we get more mods to LoMo even if all modders convert to Vista ;)

I though those files where also attached with the VC .zip file so look at that. Also a good idea is to install Microsoft Train Simulator because some of the programs are using parts of it.

ok will try installing msts, but the strange thing is the fact that i have all the required files to make msts2lomo beta 101 work, (the one that comes with VC works fine) when i run the installer vista says it finds them but cant register them.

thanks

Illegal_Alien, are you going to put the .zip file online? (I will make a .zip file with a .bat and these files, so you can do it with just one click.)

And more, if you haven't a Windows XP copy available, is it still possible to run the MSTS2Lomo convertor (ie with downloading the dlls?) I tried, but couldn't register it.

Vista
