Great! What I'll do is get the first two coded 100% to your liking and then I'll copy that across to all 8 liveries. Will give it a go tonight...

Ok this is proving harder than I expected.
I don't give up though, will dig through the documentation and forum searches again tomorrow.

Just an update, I've found how to do what we're after so will have an updated grf up, probably on Saturday.

Excellent news, dev|ant.
Was having another play today and wondered how easy it is to implement a 'no turnaround' code for when it leaves a dead end station?

Hard to get exact at 8bpp anyway, I'd go for what gives the best resemblance, rather than most accurate. As said "If it looks like it, it is it"
I've seen a few sprites where people concentrate on getting the length right, and ignore the fact that the sloping drivers cab is integral to the look of the train.

I noticed how the cab does tend to slop in peculiar ways, but it's only a real subtle change and there gets missed out.

Will update the first post and start playing.

Re: Tyne and Wear Metro GRF [Coding in progress]|[Test GRF]
Metro's more like the London Underground. It runs on regular rail, with an incompatible electrical system. It's mostly on separate tracks, but occasionally shares those with Network Rail. Some stations are underground, but most are above, and many are architecturally unchanged from their British Rail days.Dave Worley wrote:I think it's quite similar to the Midland Metro and Manchester Metrolink (the latter more than the former) as these both run on ex-heavy rail routes.
One thing it is not, is a tram. The system has a few level crossings, where cars have been known to lose fights with trains. Also, you definitely need a platform or a step ladder to board the trains (except at the driver's cab, where they have their double-handle affair).

Haven't seen dev|ant in a while. I assume that's all the hard work on this/Vic set keeping him busy though.

Spooky
Well, I've had no issues with it so far. Seems that it's all ready for the big shift into full working order (apart from the turning around at the station, which still exists).

In truth, this is exactly the same as the Manchester Metrolink - it's high-platformed, rather than the Midland Metro which is low-floor.Brianetta wrote:One thing it is not, is a tram. The only difference I suppose is that the T&W Metro doesn't have street running?

It was planned a few years ago, but someone sensibly canned that idea very quietly.Dave Worley wrote:In truth, this is exactly the same as the Manchester Metrolink - it's high-platformed, rather than the Midland Metro which is low-floor.Brianetta wrote:One thing it is not, is a tram. I was just writing up a reply saying there's no way to fix that, when I found out there is!Monaro Doorslammer wrote:(apart from the turning around at the station, which still exists)

Stay tuned.

Okay, now you need someone to record the sound of "Oi, you're sat in my seat, I only went to the toilet" as the sound of the train leaving a station.

I know the reputation of the Metro as a 'mobile urinal' precedes itself, but you do talk an incredible amount of Baltics you do.audigex wrote:Okay, now you need someone to record the sound of "Oi, you're sat in my seat, I only went to the toilet" as the sound of the train leaving a station.
