Re: Totally Texas II Scenario
Mr. Ar4i;
Good screenies, ol' Chap! I've always love playing "Mid Central Rails". Then when I redid it
into "Mid Central Road & Rails", that made it even more fun. I only wished I'd made it in
the 'Temperate' mode. Even so, it's one of my favorites.
Mr. Raichase, you are the best, my Friend.
OK, Here's my new and improved scenario called "Totally Texas II"!
When I was a kid growing up in the Midwest, dirt roads were every where.
You could see the 'rooster tails' of dust going up in the air from the wheels of
the car as you sped down those old, bouncy, rough dirt roads. My whole family
was almost killed because the driver tried to miss some 'pot holes' in the road, lost
control and
flipped a number of times, ending up in a cornfield on it's top, which was crushed
down to the top of the car seats. In those days there were no seatbelts.
Anyway, I still relate to those roads in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. So,
these (NA Roads and NA City) were in stalled in my improved version of 'Totally Texas'.
Now, with the help of the latest patch, one may 'tie' as many, say Oil Wells, as he
wants to one station, thus, Whamo, a super oil destribution station. That's fun! I
reduced the cities to just above 1,000 pop. and 'tweaked' some other things
that improved the game play. Now, let's play this fine, fun scenario
"Totally Texas II"!
Friends, you'll enjoy it as much as I do! Below is a 'screenie' from my latest game.

Re: Jim Powers' Scenarios & Games (TTDP)
Jim, I noticed that a lot of your maps have a lot of GRFs attatched to them. OTTD disables them so I cant see what they are. Could you list them?
Re: Jim Powers' Scenarios & Games (TTDP)
OpenTTD doesn't 'just' disable them; it disables them when it cannot find a NewGRF that matches, but you can still see the GRF IDs as stored in the savegame. That you can't see a human readable name is because TTDP doesn't store the name of the NewGRFs in the savegame, which is hardly anything OpenTTD can solve. This makes it is impossible for OpenTTD to find out which NewGRF was originally used when you do not have the NewGRF with the same GRF ID.trainmaster611 wrote:OTTD disables them so I cant see what they are.
Re: Jim Powers' Scenarios & Games (TTDP)
I recommend to start with OpenTTDCoop package (in my sig) as it contains more than 130 GRFs. The only real problem is with Industry GRFs. There is a special topic that is related to problems with Jim scenarios in OpenTTD: click here

Re: Jim Powers' Scenarios & Games (TTDP)
Dear mr. Powers,
I am fairly new to the game, but your scenarios are a great motivation to work out how the newgrfs and all other custom features work. I hope I will get them working, so I will be able to play your scenarios really soon.
Warm regards
Lukas

Isn't he moving to Florida or something? He did mention it a couple of times, but I'm not quite sure where he is moving to. But I guess as soon as his new household is up and running he'll be supplying us all with some wonderful scenario's again.
Re: Jim Powers' Scenarios & Games (TTDP)
Ah right. I knew he said something was happening on the 22nd, but wasn't sure what it was.

Dear TT-Forums Family;
This is the same "Jim Powers" as before. But, as usual, I didn't
know how to 'Login' using my old password. And, now you'll notice that
I have a new email address (which I just got finally), since we moved to
Key West, Florida in the good ol' USA! I also have a new laptop with this
crummy Vista which it takes a rocket scientist to run, (HATE IT!)
I've not got the old files off my old computer yet, so until when I can transfer
them, looks like I'll not be doing what I love to do most, playing TTD, UGH!
Anyway, just wanted to let those who might be interested what's been happening.
IT'S GREAT TO BE BACK!
Always,
Jim Powers

Mr. AndersI;
You and Mr. Purno, thanks for the welcome back. Keeps me from feeling
too much like a stranger, especially if my good friend Owen can help
I wished I could get 'back to normal', but, things aren't what they said they'd
be. So, pretty soon I should have my files back, then, after I figure out this
laptop better, maybe I will be able to make scenarios again.
Again thanks for everything, Guys.
Always,
Jim Powers

Excellent to hear from you again Jim! I'm glad to see you back on the forums. I trust the move went well? I too have been without good internet for about a month or so now, so I am very pleased to be back online in full capacity!
