At the time I'm writing this post the OpenTTD v.0.4.6 PBI just went on-line at http://www.pbidir.com ...
... and I just saw that v.0.4.7 is out!!! :D

Haven't tried PC-BSD yet, but it's your effort that counts!
Can you tell us more about the self-installing packages? How do they work on PC-BSD? Do you include the TTD files?
Code needs love, like everything else.

No, but warning popups are displayed to tell the user about the requirements.
In addiction to this, the installer search for old versions of OpenTTD already installed in order to reuse TTD files if already available.
