Busstop Picture / Dev Topic

Hi

Here is the first screenshot of a drive thru bus station, trucks will not stop there... :D

(Currently I play a bit with how a default bus stop without a graphic set could look like, any ideas welcome, have to be TTD Sprites that aren't replaced by some sets... )

Busstops will be build like a regular bussation, you get two new orientation buttons on the right side ...

TTDPatch dev in retirement ... Search a grf, try Grf Crawler 0.9 - now with even faster details view and new features...

Dose this mean you can use it as a waypoint for trucks ?

:) Can't think of realistic use for truck/lorry drivethrough unless you put one in front of every house for daily bread, milk and piza delivery :)
:idea: I would like to see a truck/lorry station with more than two bays, perhaps one that could be set beside an industry like a long loading dock with the vehicles backed to the industry. :idea:

Yes ... I agree ... but my post was more to let him know that we like his innitiative :bow: and can hardly wait to give it a go :) and we'll look at anything else he suggests :)
Thats the great thing about ttdx and the patch ... lots of sugestions and some great coders and artists to make it all work. :)
Keep 'em coming Oskar ... lot's of room on my desktop for your excellent work :D

I think Wally has hit the nail on the head there, the one reason why TTDPatch hasn't stalled off and faded into obscurity. Supperior community effort, from the coders, the artists, the dev's and importantly, the peeps who keep churning out the suggestions.

How about design it to the default ttdx set and then offer the code to the custom roadset designers so that they can adapt it to their sets :?:

btw ... does it work in both directions :?: For example ... can a southbound bus and a northbound bus both stop at the same time :?:

Answer Time:

Trucks simple think Bus Stops are regular roads, a Bus will stop on both sides.
About the graphic part, Busstops will use the regular paved roads, so they will work out of the box with any roadset.
Josef promised to work on a action support for them.

Some problems:
Bus and trucks will overtake at busstops aswell, resulting that busses stop aswell on the "wrong" side...

What about AI buses and your buses which don't have this station in order? I suppose they also "think" this station is part of road?

I tested an AI Bus and it happily used it as normal road, but well there can be some bugs on that part... (but in general it should work) :wink:
