It's quite simple. Apple currently rejects OpenTTD due to its license. So the only thing that you need to do is make Apple change its license rules, e.g. by buying Apple.

Not quite that simple, surely Cydia allows GPL software to be distributed in line with the licence?

Cydia isn't the Apple App Store, though  .

If it's not on there, nobody made a working build that was worth putting on there.

I've seen OTTD on an iPod Touch, so must have been a port at some time or other. Probably years out of date, though :( .

Yes, it was available on the App Store for some time, but Apple then pulled the app. Of course if you had bought an Android device then you would actually be able to choose what you want to do with your phone/tablet, and install a GPL licensed app.

Which is relevant to this discussion how exactly? This is meant to be a discussion about OpenTTD on the iPad, not the virtues of Apple devices versus Android or other platforms.

Well, the source of his port is here: https://github.com/zodttd/OpenTTD
That's probably the closest you can get to OpenTTD on an Ipad at the moment.
