Re: Factory/Refinery maximum monthly production?
I think the limit is 6000 items.
Re: Factory/Refinery maximum monthly production?
according to Rubidium, MoveGoodsToStation is called in the tileloop and can move at most 255 items, so the limit is 255 items per tile every 256 ticks

What Eddi quotes can be very nicely verified in some of our PublicServer games where we tried to get as much industry output as possible. The cap for secondary (and tertiaray,...) industries is at exactly that limit.

Re: Factory/Refinery maximum monthly production?
So to recap (if I've read the posts correctly), there is a hard limit on the amount of Goods any particular original industry can create from delivered raw materials. This limit is based on the number of tiles the Industry covers and has no relationship to the rate of removal of created goods from the industry.
However I've just found this:
So using the daylength patch will change the maximum amount of produced goods per month for industries it seems.
Certainly clears up my initial questions, thanks all.
As a follow on, conversion rates of raw materials to goods... as I understand it, it is 1 unit of raw material to 1 box of goods, how many tons/litres/animals make up 1 unit? Think I read a long time ago that oil is 1000 litres to 1 unit but what are the rest?
Hopefully this thread has been useful to more than just me.
Cheers

However I've just found this:
on a flyspray page that Google turned up.Standard day length is 74 ticks. This means a month length is from 2072 to 2294 ticks. Industry production callback happens every 256 ticks. And this means it happens 8 or 9 times a month.
For OTTD there is a "daylength patch". The patch changes how many ticks there are per game day (e.g. daylength factor 2 means 148 ticks per day instead of 74 and thus, a month also has twice the number of ticks). This means a daylength factor 2 will change month length up to from 4144 to 4588 ticks. And, because production callback happens every 256 ticks, this means production callback happens 16, 17 or 18 times a month
So using the daylength patch will change the maximum amount of produced goods per month for industries it seems.

the difference between the effects that daylength does have, and which effects it should have, are heavily disputed, that should not be part of this discussion...

Re: Factory/Refinery maximum monthly production?
With all this written here, I might have found the explanation for my enormous ammounts of produced goods. I was using the manual industries grf which allows setting production levels manually and it might have disrupted normal behaviour of industries. I can't be sure of this but it's a thought...

That's fine Eddi, I have no experience of the daylength patch what so ever, I just happened to find this particular quote when I googled "OTTD Ticks" to get an understanding of how ticks related to days + months and thought it might have relevance to this discussion...Eddi wrote:the difference between the effects that daylength does have, and which effects it should have, are heavily disputed, that should not be part of this discussion...

Hey all,
Have now a oil refinery pumping 31479 goods out, I am not yet pumping in the max... so I will post a printscreen when I reach the max.

Here you go. 34,425.
Here is the loading station at the other end of the line, this is during a slight hiccup in Oil supply causing the platforms to fill up with waiting trains... However just under a month later, after a hundred million or so liters of Oil got dropped off its starting to clear out and start flowing again. There is 1000 trains running this.
I have signals in tunnels included btw before anyone says anything about the obviously very long tunnels that underpin my station philosophy
