No offence but this sounds far too much like a dictatorship for anyone to become involved. You have to be prepared to do your bit rather than just tell other people what to do, otherwise you'll end up with no one "on your side".

Ok, so, everybody's getting the wrong end of the stick, I'm designing and fabricating the map, but there are some things (bridges and stock) that i can't do myself, and i'd likw some help from people, who know what they are doing.

See the tracking table here

I still don't think you understand. People have to have some motivation to do this and also the set needs to be usable with more than one scenario, I doubt many people would want to create a set that only really fits with one scenario.

There also has to be the enthusiasm from the people that give up their time to do the work, everyone here does the stuff they do because they enjoy it. If they don't enjoy it they don't do it, they certainly don't need any money to persuade them. So instead of paying for their services how about giving a donation to the forums that is very generously hosting your thread?

Ameecher, it is very hard for me to do this, i'm not very good at drawing, or i would have done that. You have to understand, that i have a visual impairment, which means that being on the computers fun, as my eyes can focus on one thing, so that's my motivation, and playing the westcontry 90201 map is good, but... Oh, i'm making myself upset, goodnight.

Two reactions on this;

1.
You can either post, pm, email or MSN me, up until the end of September, from then on, god only knows whether i'll be contactable.
How can you make sure everything runs 'smoothly' when you seem to expect to be hardly contactable from the end of September?

2.
If you're going to coordinate things, what about starting with a tracking table? And if you want people to work with you, you'll have to listen to their opinions too. That means, that even when you finished your tracking table, things might need to be removed or added. That's just how teams work.

This comes closest to a Tracking Table item. Please check other project's Tracking Table to see what a Tracking Table actually is.

That is cool. You'll be in the right place should you need to do some research. I hope your libraries allow logging onto forums. The ones in my town frown upon it. :(
TycoonMarkJ wrote:A tracking table? ok, i know roughly what one of those is, ...
It looks to me that you are proposing to manage this set and that is ok. krtaylor does this for several sets. Here is the link to the tracking tables that he manages http://www.as-st.com/ttd

You'll be wanting to expand on these of course.
TycoonMarkJ wrote:Also, i will donate money to the forums, as a thank you for everybody's help...
orudge will love you for that.
TycoonMarkJ wrote:Last night, i was getting desperate, so i'm sorry, i'll behave from now on
No need for desperation ... a polite question around here usually gets answers, sometimes lots of them, occasionally too many.
A couple of thoughts ... If you be student or worker, keep in mind that studies and work take precedence. We'll always be here as a place to return to. Don't expect results overnight. Most of the sets in these forums are far from done even though quite playable. Like good food, a good set takes time to prepare. I'm looking forward to some of those castles and bridges. Should be fun. :D

EDIT: A bit of kind advice ... avoid posting in red as much as possible. Apparently there are concerns about how it renders on some systems and orudge frowns upon it.

While I'm not sure about who'll be drawing and coding all this, a little suggestion from me (seeing as I'm in Flintshire for the summer) - how about the Flintshire bridge?

DEM Data

Post by welshdragon »

I know that, in some games, you can use DEM data to create maps, can this be done in TTD? if not, is it something that could be developed?
