Checkpoint graphics

You might remember that we decided on eobet's checkpoint graphics a while ago. You might have been wondering why those graphics haven't made it into the game yet. Well, they aren't completely finished yet and Eobet does currently not have enough time to finish them. He agreed to let someone else finish them.
They lack some company color and this is what eobet had in mind:
eobet wrote:I do not mind if someone else finishes the graphics. What I had in mind for the company colors, was to have part of the checkpoint in metal, and part in the company color, kind of like a dashed pattern (probably much like bar/gate of a railway crossing in most countries).
You could do some other modifications if you don't like his idea. What we need is some company color on that checkpoint. Maybe something like a sign would do for that as well. We also need the arch in the other direction and preferably ready to put into a grf file.
PS: And no, we don't want something completely different. Just some fine-tuning of eobet's graphics.

Ahh, so thats what that graphic is for.
Also would it be possible to make a thing so that you can join checkpoints together? I find it annoying having two checkpoints next to each other with different names, sometimes I click on the wrong one.

If you like this quick improving of the posted PSD, I can work a little more on it

@George: I think that looks excellent the way it is!! Good job!

Yes, great job, George! I like it, too. Is that shed in company colors? I think that might look a little weird in some colors. Would it work to make the roof company colored and the shed gray?

I think that would look even weirder...
maybe it's an idea to put it in game and see how weird it looks?

yes, it's the company colours. i'm not sure if it will look good if the roof would be in the company colours. But it is possible to make some flag on the roof in company colours if this solution will look bad
P.S. The gate need to be improved. I shall do it on a weekend, I hope
P.P.S. Yellow and dark green looks good (checked in photoshop).

But don't you guys have permission to use michael blunck's waypoint stations?

In their unmodified state, yes, we can.

New itteration. The steel farme is completely redone
P.S. to copyright violation finders

How do you think, is the new frame the same or not? If yes, than the copyright violation controlling is too hard at this scale, because it is was completely redone, only the idea was the same, but all the pixels were drawn fron zero.

that's hard to alter now as waypoints are tile specific. Making waypoints that are on more than one tile means recoding the entire waypoint code

Oh.

I will just stick with 2x1 stations then.

Bravo George!
P.S. I suppose we can't but would it be possible for Micheal Bluncks Waypoints to not change every ten years, I like a few of them but they change into ones I don't like later. You are putting them in though?

yeah me too. I never use checkpoints for exactly this reason...

Those graphics really look great, George! I'm loving them.
PS @Born Acorn: pasky (the newgrf guy) already coded support for those waypoint graphics and I made a GUI for them. With those combined patches you will be able to place any kind of waypoint you want. But the default will of course be the arch by George / Eobet.

Not in the nightly build i got, adding new waypoint graphics in newgrf field crashes OpenTTD..

No, they're not in SVN yet and probably won't be very soon.

Wow, you managed to fit my little house into the square as well! Great job! I left it hidden in the PSD because I didn't have time to shrink it.
I have doubts about the flag, though. I wonder if it doesn't make too many things happen at once... Also, it's so small, so I bet it will get lost against certain background tiles.
Oh, and a minor detail: The house was never meant to have windows. It's like an unmanned switchboard thingy where they house some machinery, and not an office building. But that's minor.
They still make us work 10 hours a day, including saturdays and sundays here at the product design college I'm attending, plus I've just started my own illustration & design firm, so my schedule is still full, unfortunately.

I'm back from vacation.

Would anyone finish the checkpoint graphics? George? Eobet? I guess it's too late now to put them into 0.3.4 but I'd like to have them in SVN shortly after the next release...
