Purno's Drawing Tutorials [now online]

Posted: 14 Aug 2004 19:14
by Purno
Hi all, welcome back

I must admit I didn't do much drawing while I was in Switserland, but I was able to make some drawing tutorials.

The current HTML-site contains 5 tutorials, some drawing explanatory and some other thingies.

I still need to try to get it online, never did such thing before so it could take a while, but I can't wait to get some first reactions

EDIT (23 August 2004): Purno's Drawing Tutorials are located at http://users.tt-forums.net/purno/PDT/index.php thanks to Owen!

Rar it and post here

Nah, stick it on the Patch website in the Wiki. It has to be somewhere it can be easily pointed to and browsed. I bet Owen can come up with a good solution.

Thanks, that's one of the most enthusiastic reactions I got.

singaporekid_92 wrote:What about *.zip
I could do that, but the site isn't completely finished, I still want to add a guestbook, and I've to change some minor things.
singaporekid_92 wrote:Is there a drawing tutorial for steamers? If not i can give u my wprk in progress
Currently it has 5 tutorials:
  • * Passenger coach (very detailed)
    * EMU (includes a new shape, panto's, front windows and such (less detailed))
    * Diesel engine (includes a more complicated shape (very undetailed))
    * Oil Tanker (includes a round shape (only the make-the-round-shape-part is detailed))
    * Wood Carrier (includes the unloaded/loaded stages (somewhat detailed))
Besides that it has an explanotary about the TT Dimensions, Light effect and Sprite Sizes (train vehicles only)

It contains a list of some artists/coders, I need to check if the people I mentioned want to be mentioned, I'll do that later (until than I won't post the site, I think that's better thing to do)

So, in short, a steamer tutorial would be nice, but it needs to be in the same style as the other tutorials.

BMP is the worst format you can use on websites. Convert it to PNG and your site will probably become 20% of what it is now. :-)
(Except for when you have a browser with a PSD plugin, I suppose  )

Yeah I know, I had a laptop/notebook/whatever it's called in English on vacation, but it didn't have software to convert to PNG. Well, now I can convert 100+ files

My laptop can convert to *png
Does anyone know anything that can convert to *.pcx other than photoshop?
Where do u plan to put your website?
Ps: u can't use purno.com cause it's got (you know what)

Purno

use Irfanview (google for it). It has Batch conversion.

You just select all files you want to convert, tell it to convert to PNG, it does the thing, job done.

GW, is there a simple quick way to change all links in a HTML file from *.bmp to *.png?

Posted: 15 Aug 2004 11:05
by Steve
Replace All. You should have it in all good text editors. Even notepad.

and when I got multiple HTMLs?

Posted: 15 Aug 2004 11:45
by krtaylor
Emacs, if you know how to use it.

Too late Krtaylor, I already used wordpad

The whole BMP to PNG conversion is now finished, result: 5MB becomes 285 kB, not bad.

EDIT:

TO DO:
- Check if all people mentioned want to be mentioned (please respond ASAP)
- Add a guestbook (I have no idea how) (I like the one on Owens Transport Tycoon Station  available for free somewhere?)
- Get website online (I have no idea how)
