problem with TTDpatch in win95...

right, we have two computers at home. one is modern, although still with the old windows 98 (that's the one I'm writing on right now...) and one isn't as modern and it has windows 95... on this modern computer TTDpatch v2.0 for windows runs just fine, but on the win95 computer i get problems...
the old computer can easily play TTD without the patch... also the DOS version works fine even with the patch... TTD for windows is new for me, just got it downloaded a few weeks ago... now, on the old coomputer, if I start TTDpatchw.exe, the DOS-style window opens and displays some stuff I don't understand a thing about, then finally: "TTD isn't installed correctly (registry error 4). press any key to exit" (that's a rough translation, cause the text was in Finnish...
before you ask, i have run the setup.exe that adds a compatibility tab to shortcuts and does some registry thingies... (as if I knew what all that means...
)
so then I thought hey, maybe I should run TTDX Configurator first, as I'm used to do on the modern computer... that's exactly why I prefer the windows version, patches are a lot easier to manage than doing it by writing hellishly long command lines...
so I tried to run it... I got a missing DLL message...
well, no problem, I copied that DLL from the modern computer onto a CD and transferred it to the old computer and tried to run TTDX configurator again...
"the file oleaut32.dll is outdated. This program needs a newer version to run"
ok, once again, I try to transfer that file from the new computer to the old one, but this time I can't replace it because windows is using this file... i try to restart in DOS mode and replace the file but it says access denied (another translation...) I try to erase the old oleaut32,dll but still it's access denied...
well, any solutions?
