[OTTD]Shanghai 1860

Post by kaitokiwa »

Hello guys! This is my first topic and please forgive my poor English. :o
Map size: 2048x2048
Start Year:1860, the decade when China start contacting with the world outside
This scenario is made last year when I was fascinated by the servers of ttdistas.es. I used scenarios in those servers as templates to made a new one. As you can see in the game, this scenario uses FIRS 3, 2cc trains and RVG script. I got much feedback and advice from JohnFrankin523, NACHN and other Chinese OpenTTD players but this scenario still seems rather rough. So please feel free to make small change before start the scenario.
Here's some pictures.

May I ask why Total town replacement set? Japanese or Korean buildings would be better suited to China in this period, wouldn't they? :)

Yes, TTRS wasn't designed for starting this early, which is why the buildings are very repetitive.

Didn't Shanghai had lots of Western buildings in this time period?

Even if so, there were definitely still blocks of traditional buildings somewhere. In fact, foreigners were only allowed to use a certain defined enclave near the port.
Moreover, even these buildings were more in the colonial style. There are enough images to google to give an idea, but most are copyrighted so I don't know if I can link here. I saw a lot of Asian-style buildings there as well.

Exactly. There were many Western-style buildings in Shanghai at that time, and quite a few of them have been preserved until now.

Thank you for your advice. I will try to use other building packs in my new scenario.

Yes, these are the colonial western style buildings that are sadly missing from TTRS. To be honest, I don't know which deck would cover it today, other than basic tropical houses and some Hothut, or Hale tropic base.
Surprisingly, using TTRS Early Mod doesn't help either. I personally mix it with the Swedish set, but that won't be the same either.
