Great!
Beautiful train videos from Australia! Thanks! I enjoy taking photos more than filming. I only make videos occasionally when something interesting happens...
But I took pictures of some trains yesterday, so I'll put them here too.

I'd say it doesn't really fit into graphics development, especially since there's this thread here viewforum.php?f=49
But if the moderators don't mind, fine. :)
I just think that even people who have no reason to go to this section would look there, after all, there are also sections dedicated to other games.

Still think this should be in the real-world transportation forum ;)

I'm honestly not much of a train watcher but if I walk around and spot something I do take a picture. Probably. So recently noticed that Siemens is building its Vectrons nearby ...

Actually a Dual Mode variant (Diesel and Electric).

Might be just going around the corner where a cargo railyard (or multiple ones one after another, kinda) is ...

Also watched some wagons sorted at run off hills, was kinda fun ;)

Wow, some nice stuff in this thread.

I can’t compete with your mega Australian trains so I thought I’d go the other way entirely  :

This was 2007, I may be a bit out of touch with trains but it’s still kinda odd that I don’t even remember those in that livery on the Furness Line (that’s Arnside Viaduct.)

I hoping with images people put here that others and me might get some ideas of future items to add to the game.
Maybe I should had changed the name so any one has a photo of something that they like to see in OpenTTD. Could be trains, planes, automobiles, ships and other items of interest.

The photo that been placed here so far have some interesting trains already and some line side objects such as the bridge.

Cheers

There's a new(ish) pedestrian/bike bridge across the Munich main station approach. Have some pictures in opposite directions:
Towards the main station; with a classic OTTD-moment of ICEs there - the one coming out of the station is crossing the path of the one going into the station, so it has to wait parked there.

Opposite view; just a random assortment of parked trains:

You might notice that the glass (or whatever that is) has pretty obnoxious stripes on it (if it's not graffitied ^^) so not actually a great spot for train pictures ;) Nice bridge though. Generally speaking.

For pictures that show infrastructure, these two seem appropriate, I haven’t resized these to display inline since you want to be able to enlarge them to see little details such as the ground signal etc in the first.

This is a zoom on Lancaster station from the south with an engineering train in a siding. In fact looking closely myself, there seems to be a Sprinter of some type (only just) visible in platform 5 on the right, didn’t think there were any passenger trains.

The second one has two West Coast Railways Class 47s (I think) on the West Coast Mainline, but here there’s also a little bridge in the foreground at the start of the Morecambe branch (and some cows.)

That photo given me a idea for fences. There already a hedge set, but I like to try doing a more of a bushy type like in the photo. Wonder if I did a multi select fence so each tile could look a little different. You make my mind ponder on this.
Cheers

A selection of photographs taken by myself between 2017 and 2018. I've got a decently sized bank of photographs, mostly from GB, but a small selection from elsewhere. Some decent, some not so good! Descriptions available with each individual photograph below.

I'll get around to adding more at a later date, and once I actually get around to uploading my current phone's photos online

Any questions, feel free to ask!

Nice photos.

These 2 photos I took last Sunday, 30th April 2023 at a steam fest. The ran 4 steam trains parallel and I thought Waratah Station where they would start from be ideal. But instead of lining up so those the crowd on foot bridge can get a front view, as can see they lined up the other side.

During the weekend they provided lots of steam train rides to various places. I got this one at Newcastle Interchange.

I take it the first one is Preston, looks like it.

I’ve actually rarely seen the sleepers, just hear them go past here (very fast, that is, in Lancaster.)

EDIT: Actually, I’ve got a couple more, it’s probably best to add them on here. The first is a 156 at Grange-over-Sands station, shows parts of the station quite well, also the nice Northern Sprit livery. :D
The second is a Class 57 (I think) on a log train, this shows one or two lineside signs.
(All these I’ve posted in this thread are from 2007/8.)

It's Edinburgh Waverley, which is where the Highland Sleeper splits into/joins from it's separate portions to/from Aberdeen, Fort William and Inverness.

Australia used to have train with 10 sleeping cars between Sydney and Melbourne called the Southern Aurora but the idiots replaced it with a XPT with 1 sleeper and 6 sitting cars.

Went train watching on Saturday 27th May 2023.
Special train rides were provided with a old diesel one end and a steam engine the other. Reason they did this as not many places to allow the steam loco to run around its train.
These few videos are on YouTube.
This one shows the train being hauled by the diesel.

This video is the train returning with the steam loco now on the front.
