Hey,
So i run tons of mods.
One is offering me a low buyout price and big maintenance and the other is giving me a big buying price but low maintenance.
I am wondering what is more optimal, from the economical point of view?
Thanks for the info,
Cheers,

buy price + <how many years>x maintenance = cost of owning it.

That's the formula, basically.
Compare the results for the different options, for different durations.
As some point, the higher purchase price item will have been better value than the lower purchase price item.
Without specifics of the prices (buy and maintenance) and the desired duration, it's not possible to give a more definitive answer.

1st aircraft - buyout price 40 millions, unkeep 5 million
2nd aircraft - buyout price 350 millions, unkeep 500k

Years in service, it is similar.
When it comes to reliability, the first plane has over 80% and the second one has 100%.

Also, the first plane takes up more passengers compared to the second plane. 540 vs 400.

I think that is all.

I have huge upkeep of airports, it is in the billions.

from the viewing point of a business, you're only ever looking at the maintenance cost, to the point where buying costs are converted into maintenance cost by distributing them over the expected runtime.

The cost outlay is fairly straight forward:
1st year: $45m for 1st type, $350.5m for 2nd
2nd year: $50m for 1st, $351m for 2nd
3rd: $55m & $351.5m
4th: $60m & $352m
and so on.

I've just done the sums in Excel. The outlay after 69 years will be $385m for 1st, $384.5m for 2nd.
So, purely from a simple cost perspective of purchase cost plus annual maintenance costs, the 1st aircraft is less expensive to own and run for 68 years.

IF you can keep your airports fed with enough passengers, to keep your planes loading at maximum speed to maximum capacity all the time, the extra income generated by the greater capacity will mean that it will take even longer before the 2nd plane becomes the better option.
