HVW - Hungary Voxel World

Hello,
We want to introduce our projects of Hungary Voxel World ("HVW").
Me, and my friends like a voxel models, the 4x zoom, the real long vehicles, and original 8bpp. :mrgreen:
Here is a list of GRFs we plan to create. I will post news and progress pictures in this thread to share with you about the development.

Our GRFs:

HVW - Tram Set Download: Ingame and GitHub

It uses a double company color.
There are 3 parameters for purchase, maintenance costs and Freight tram capacity.
All the trams will be available if "Tram rails" GRF are running in the game.

Nice.
Why use a parameter for max zoom? ottd has a built in setting to limit max zoom.

Yes, but there may be a player who wants to zoom-in on the game (for example, to build), but doesn’t like the zoom graphics.
So everyone can be happy! :mrgreen:

There is also a setting (added recently) to restrict the maximum sprite resolution, even when zoomed in. :)

New graphics method because of the more beautiful pantographs.
Improve parameters.

Hai!
I'd like to continue my projects under the HVW brand, since me and Macaroni help each other out on these voxel-based projects. My aim is similar to his', 4x zoom in 8bpp, because my personal opinion is 32bpp and edge smoothing sort of kills the mood of OTTD, so all you could get from me is bumpy edged sprites and oldschool company coloured sprites with few shades per color :lol:

So i've been working on a modular truck set (i know, i know, what a surprise...), with sprite stacking technique.
As of OTTD 13, the maximum layers increased to 8, which gave me a lot of new oppurtunities, but the grf is currently working only on fresh nighty builds.
I figured out it doesn't add much to the gameplay to see if your vehicles are a different brand, so i packed them up like the generic sets (GRVTS, MOP, etc.), but with real truck models randomized. Each truck get randomized, start from the cabin, each cabin get it's own chassis, then it get the cargo compartment, trailers are made the same method.
The set now only include MAN trucks, F90, F2000 and TGA, with some variations, all of them on 2-3-4 axle chassis, and 2-3 axle standard or tandem trailers.
I like to overcomplicate everything, so the cargo gets drawn separately on the cargo bed, this way i don't have to draw every cargo on every truck, making it easier to add new cargos and/or randomize them. (currently very few cargo variants are done, and no loading stages yet, everything gets popped on the truck in 1 step, being done later)
As far as i tested, it works correctly, but i'd like to ask if anyone see something unusual.

I updated the first post!

The first beta HVW - Tram set is ready.
Downloadable in game. If so, I would like to hear your experiences, does it work well?
They were made from voxel models with 4x zoom, but 8bpp color.
Some extras: Zoomed purchase/depot view. The OPI tram, which has an open platform in summer, is closed in winter. the Citylink can also run without an overhead line, with a diesel engine. All trams require an extended tram rail GRF.
Many trams are still planned, not only in Hungary.

Hello,
I get an error with both sets when loading a new map. For the tram set it says:
A fatal NewGRF error has occurred: Unknown Action 0 property 0x28 (sprite 173)
For the truck set the error is the same but with sprite 2335. I'm using Openttd 13.0.
It didn't happen with the previous versions uploaded in the forums. Unfortunately, I overwrote the old tram grf with the new one so I cannot go back.

I've already used the older sample files of those trams with CZTR trams and it looked pretty good. Although the CZTR ones seem a little smaller to me.

this is my first post here, even though I've been reading this forum for a long time.
I've decided to register to comment this set - it's really amazing, I love all the trams from it.
Thank you for your work - if someday there will be similar pack for hungarian trains, I'll be in heaven.

Please update OpenTTD, both grfs needs at least 13.1 to function properly!

Very nice looking set.
Holding my fingers crossed for Ikarus buses some time in the future.
We need it, existing ones are pretty old :bow:
