So I delete ttdptxt.dat. Whoo. Game no longer crashes. Then some time in the future, I forget about it, download a new alpha and run mkpttxt.exe. Then I have to remember somehow to delete ttdptxt.dat again. Can this just be fixed?

you got error in ttdpttxt.txt and after running mkpttxt.exe it compiles with error and that's why it crash ... get newest mkpttxt.exe, delete ttdpttxt.txt and ttdpttxt.dat and run mkpttxt.exe
