I think OP is referring to the "official" mobile version of Transport Tycoon from a few years ago, not pelya's OpenTTD build for Android.

Sadly, Chris Sawyer's Transport Tycoon for iOS/Android does seem to have been abandoned. You can still buy it, but no updates, it's glitchy on newer versions of the OS, and the official support forums have been offline for a few years.
