When a player is bankrupt, a message will show up and says that all of the assets have been sold off. But is it possible to really buy any properties from that company?

Yes, usually before a player goes bankrupt, the other companies are offered to buy out the company with a popup. I don't remember the rules for exactly how the sales offer is made, but it definitely happens.

But what happens after a company ran bankrupt?

If someone takes the offer to buy the company, everything owned by that company is transferred to the buyer.

If nobody buys the company out, then everything owned by the company is removed from the map.

Be careful when buying out companies which are going broke, as not only do you get all their assetts, you also get whatever debt they have, and its usually large as thats one of the reasons they are going broke.
