New trains not available for order

Post by Simen1 »

I have OpenTTD 1.10.0 running on Windows and generated a new game starting in year 2000. Now old trains are getting unavailable while new trains are invisible (not hidden). Why? How to fix it?

The original vehicle set doesn't have much new after 2000, especially not regular trains. Most of the new train types after 2000 are Monorail and later Maglev.

If I go to my list of trains and press the button "available trains", there are lots of modern locomotives.
If I go to a train garage and try to buy a new locomotive, I only have one very old locomotive to choose.
I believe the modern locomotives are embedded in the game, but somehow wont show up when I try to buy one.

Click and hold the "Build railways" button on the main toolbar, then drag down to the Electrified railway option and select that.

Just a heads up:

Diesel and steam trains can run on any track but electric trains need electrified track.

To convert 'standard' track to electectric use the convert tool available in the tool bar (looks like a U-turn)

I zoom out and cover great swaithes of track in one go, be careful you do not miss any as electric trains will stop if they hit the wrong track.

Please be aware I am not trying to teach you to 'suck eggs' :)
