I'd like to be able to specify a different color for my locomotives so that it is visually easy to tell which direction the train is going. When I experience deadlocks at intersections, it is cumbersome to unravel it as I try to figure out which direction each train is headed. If the locomotives were a different color than the other vehicles/carriages, it would make it much easier. Thanks!

This is a nice suggestion, which is already implemented Here's how you do it

If you use vehicle groups and OpenTTD 1.9 or newer, you can also set colours for each group
