hi
i made the 13,9MB download of tt deluxe for windows. i extract the files and open the setup-file. when i click on 'install' it says (translated from german) : "file can not be copied. source file can not be read."
what can i do about that error?
thanks

maybe the source file is damaged. you could try to download it again (somewhere else)

Hang on! Why don't you check the file properties first, it could be some read-only setting. If I remember well I've heard about this problem before. But as I can hardly remember if you should definetly not expect me to remember the solution

You can always try
Shadow's Registry Editor instead of the TTD setu program

yeah i already had another file downloaded, but it had the same error.
how does this registry editor work?
oh, and do i actually need the win-version of the game? i got the dos-version on cd, but winxp does not support any dos-stuff, unfortunately...

Yes. You definately need the Win version.
The Registry Editor can be used instead of the setup.exe files to make all the entries needed.

Copy the files you downloaded into a folder, let's say C:\MPS\TTWin95
Open the Registry Editor and tell it that your TTD directory is C:\MPS\TTWin95.
Now download the Windows version of the patch and put it in that folder. Make a new text file called ttdpatch.cfg (note that there is no .txt extension on that) containing the line
Save that and run the patch.

ok, i did exactly that, but the dos-looking screen that appears on running the patch says (translated from german) :
invalid configuration command 'code: win2k on'
what could that be?
thanks

You don't put "code: win2k on" in the cfg, just "win2k on" (no quote marks).

ah, i suspected that. but now the patch has different problems,
it wants to start the ttdloadw.ovl, but then says (translated) :
the procedure entry point "ConvertToGlobalHandle" could not be found in the "KERNEL32.dll"
oh my god.
thank you for any help!
thanks.

delete (or rename) ttdpatch.cfg to something else and run the patch,
the patch will then creat a default ttdpatch.cfg which will have the correct switches enabled, if that doesnt work post the error message here.
PS using the default ttdpatch.cfg will add various things to the game and change others, please read the manual, can be found at
http://www.ttdpatch.net/doc
for all switches/patches see:
http://www.ttdpatch.net/Manual/ttdpatch ... %20Patches
you can also open the default ttdpatch.cfg in notepad and all the switches will have small descriptions on what they do.

running the patch without the .cfg I created gives the same error message quoted above : "........procedure entry point.....KERNEL32.dll...."
etc.
so its not the .cfg-file that causes the problem, it must be something else, but what could it be?

The only one who would have much idea about this would be Josef (Patchman) but he's away at the moment. Try re-downloading the patch and check you didn't download something corrupt.
Also, if you've got a file called dxmci.dll in your TTWin95 directory then delete or rename it.
Finally, which version of the patch are you trying to run?

i'm running the patch from the link under your first reply.
when is the patchman coming back?
