Some more screenshots:
Screenshot 1:
Modified a small island off the coast of Maer and added the Statue of Liberty. (looks quite nice to the ferry passengers as they pass by it).
Screenshot 2:
Ryme Intrinseca, whilst a small village, is found to be at the centre of many local villages, and so bus routes are being built around it.
Screenshot 3:
A bit of eyecandy buildings in Maer.

The town of Maer has expanded nicely since the buses and trains arrived, and is swallowing up the nearby village of Clapton.

Started a game with a few AI, and found something very interesting: an AI wanting to transport grain by using a train which only carries passengers, and doesn't even fit into the stations.

They just have to ask all the farmers to put grain on their bags and go on vacation.

That's some fast grain, a Eurostar class 373!, 186mph but no train allowed because the staff don't know if corona is edible

I have lost all previous save files, so needed to start afresh. I am now taking a more industry-led approach, which will allow me to focus on the realistic aspects of building a network as well as having less focus on growing towns. Attached is the the map I will be working on and the starting point. I have done nothing on this map so far apart from find where I am going to start, which looks like buses for the time being.

We now have a bus route. Goldsborough seemed like a good place to start, so a bus station was built there. The route currently serves the adjacent villages of Hatfield Peverel (seen in this shot) and North Lopham (seen in the next shot). There are two buses on this route, although due to the small size of the towns this seems like overkill. The more stops along the route the more buses will be used.
This is the industry which motivated the start here. It is a vehicle dealer (using XIS), and is right at the end of the industry chain, requiring just one cargo.
And this industry is where the supply will come from. This is the assembly plant which will provide vehicles for the vehicle dealer at North Lopham. It opens up a big industry chain.

The assembly plant requires parts and vehicle bodies. It only seems logical to have the vehicle bodies ready first, so we start with that.
Vehicle bodies require steel, aluminium and zinc.
We start with aluminium, which requires bauxite, scrap metal and acid.
Boarhunt has an aluminium plant which we can use, and there are three nearby bauxite mines, as well as a couple of recycling depots and a recycling plant for scrap metal.
