New month, new competition! Let's go!

Theme:
"SETTING A SCENE"
... set by the last month's winner Geo Ghost.

As always, rules can be found HERE.

How to enter:
Easy - simply upload your image to this topic to enter or link it from a trusted site such as flickr, photobucket, DeviantArt, your personal website etc.
Uploading is preferred as it keeps things together. If you're linking from a URL, having a small 'preview' image and a link to a high-res image would be helpful.
If uploading direct to the wiki:
Let's keep entries in a certain named format for organisation reasons as well as keeping record of them in the entries topic and here. If you prefer to upload to the wiki, please keep it in the same naming format as other entries and inform me they are already on the wiki. Name format is - month|year|POTM_user name.
For example: 0316POTM_Dave.jpg / 0316POTM_orudge.jpg / 0316POTM_GeoGhost.jpg / 0316POTM_Ameecher.jpg
You get the idea ;)

At the end of the month, this topic will close and a voting topic will be started with all the entries in for people to choose their top one.
All entries will be uploaded to the tt-forums wiki and stored there for voting and also for archive.
Entries close on the last day of the month, voting will be available for 7 days (approximately).
The winner will need to contact me about what they want the next theme to be and then that will be posted in the entry topic for the next month*. Then we repeat from there. Simple.
(* If the winner doesn't choose a theme within 7 days, the next month's theme will be an "Open" theme).

If you wish to change your entry, you may so long as the entries are still open. Simply upload a new one to the topic and remove your old one.
Otherwise, it may get confusing as to which one you are entering. If there are two entries submitted and you have not informed me which one you wish to be used, I will use the first one posted.

Cheers people!

... and just to be clear about "setting a scene" thing, Geo gave me also some directives for all entrants...

"The idea of this theme is for you to really think about photos you are taking. Why are you taking them? What is there?
Set a scene up. Let your photo tell a story. Really go out there and experiment and try to capture something for a reason, rather than because you can.
Put some time and thought into what you want someone to see. Set a scene that you want to show someone with just that one photo.

There's been a few great examples in the past. One of my all time favourites was Raichase's "Departure" win. Which was a family waving good-bye to someone on the train. Beautifully shot as well, but it told the story so simply and brilliantly!

So, let's see what you can come up with. Show me what scenes you can create through the view finder of your camera."

This is going to be a rather difficult month! Still, I'm certain that we will get some amazing pictures for this month, it could be the best month yet!

OK, I think I've got a scene "set up"...

A brand new fast ferry catamaran has just "unloaded" its passenger and is steaming away while the old ship is docking for its share of the load. This latter one serves also as a kind of a delivery vessel, supplying a whole archipelago with goods too - e.g. on the right you can see the "cage" of a tractor trailer filled with beer crates, bread cases and probably other stuff for the local market but I've seen even these tractors being delivered by this ship.

Thank you but I wouldn't say that. :D I've seen your (and other people's) pics far better than this one...

Come on people, let's see a nice photo-fight! :D

I don't think it is as difficult as it looks :) Admittedly, I've probably made it seem a rather challenging theme.. but honestly. I believe you all can get something that fits in somehow :)
There's a great many things I can think of just off the top of my head.

Crowds waiting on a busy station for the train... Ground crew at an airport directing a flight for departure... Tonnes of Cargo being unloaded from a ship... A bed of flowers being planted on a little station ready for spring...

All sorts :)

I'd love to go out and find something.. but time is not generous at the moment :P
Plus, I don't think it's fair for me to enter into my own theme haha.

I thought half the fun of setting a theme was so you could choose something you know you have an advantage in!

I'll enter with this one I took this morning at work. (I might change next week as I took this with the phone I use and it doesn't have a great camera. I'll charge and drag the phone with a better camera along next week)

Good to see that this is open over the Easter weekend. UK folk get a nice 4 day weekend to go and find create some pictures.

Taken today at Blisworth, Northants.

Ideally would have liked a freight train going past to contrast against the historic freight barge on the Grand Union Canal beneath but this is the alignment of the WCML fasts and most freight routes via Northampton instead - it was also a Sunday so unlikely to be running anyway.

Virgin Invasion of Kings Cross!
(There is a Great Northern service skulking on Platform 1, surrounded by Virgins!)

What I'd give to be that Great Northern service.

Also what's it doing in Platform 1? Aren't 0 - 4 the pretty much sole reserve of proper Intercity trains (a 365 to Peterborough or Cambridge doesn't count).

GN trains can, and do, use any available platforms :) There's no reservations for any platforms really past booked platforms.

The only restrictions are:
-Platforms 9/10/11 which are 8-coaches maximum. It's not unusual to see a Grand Central or Hull Trains stabled there in the weekend.
- and Platform 1 is the only one that charter trains may use because of the extended length. It actually has two signals in that one platform! :P

Come to think of it, I swear that I've seen 313s in the main trainshed on occasion. Seems wrong for them to be there!

You forget that government once had its eyes on putting IEPS on Kings Cross - Cambridge!
