Split from - Squid Ate FISH!

Post by aantono »

Cross-posting this from FIRS forum, as it seems the problem might be related to Squid.
Not sure if this is a bug or what's going on, but for some reason, I have a train trying load Eng. Sup. from a feeder station, and the station shows 140 crates available, but the train is refusing to load them (it only loaded 1% = 1 crate). Any idea why that happenend? New deliveries of ENSP to the station get loaded onto the train just fine, but the earlier ones for some reason don't. The weird part is that if I change the orders for the ship that delivers ENSP to load them back, instead of Metal, it does it just fine, and upon transferring back, the train is able to load them. If I buy another ship type, that one can't load them just as the train, BUT, if I buy another Little Cumbrae Freighter, it loads them just fine (but only if it shares the same order)!!!... Very weird. Seems like there might be something wrong with the Little Cumbrae Freighter? :(

To me, this sounds like Cargodist.

It allocates cargo to go through a specific sequence of stations. If you add a new train with different orders, cargo won't just hop onto the train, even if the destinations are the same. New cargo does get rerouted after a while (your 1%). Old cargo continues to move along its original route, unless you destroyed that route. In the latter case, the cargo will eventually also get rerouted.

That's related to neither NewGRF as they cannot influence cargo routing. If you're would be playing with cargodist enabled for that cargo type (or are supplies of passenger, mail or valuables class in firs?), it might be cargo which needs re-routing but has not yet been re-routed - but that seems not to be the case nor ever been the case, according to game log. Something weired happens/ed... possibly a bug with cargo (re-)routing.

Haven't checked the save (on a silly tablet), but do the orders include station refits?

Either way, there is nothing in Squid that would cause this. I can think of ways that a newgrf could theoretically produce similar behaviour (bad autorefit cb handling), but that's not the case here. This one sounds much more like a cdist issue.

Not using CargoDist for resource cargos (only on for Pax & Mail). The order does include Refit at Station.

If you give me the list, I can upload them here... none of them are private, just from different forums.

Maybe you should check first that you are allowed to redistribute those grfs?

I am. I got those from the Russian http://forums.ttdrussia.net/ forum, and there is the GermanRV grf, which is not on Bananas, but available for download on their site. There is also PiccaBird's Faster Mail Car, which he posted on the UKRS2 topic on this forum.

No, that's not how it works. The fact that something is (or was) available for download on the internet doesn't mean that you can repost and redistribute it as you see fit. FWIW the faster UKRS express car grf is freely distributable, but if you knew that you would also know that it's on bananas.

I also don't think this discussion benefits from being spread over three different threads. Please continue this discussion in this thread, rather than cluttering up the Graphics Release forums with an issue that's probably not related to FISH, or any other NewGRF.
