hi guys, major fan of the original TTD!!! and i have downloaded the OTTD version now, but what GRF settings have you guys uploaded? i would like to be able to play the game as pretty much standard, but i have downloaded all the GRFS and now i have all sorts of vehicles and trains and i dunno what i have done wrong!!! is there a way to re install OTTD to start from fresh with out the GRFs? help please!!!

Go to "NewGRF Settings" and deactivate stuff!

All those GRF files you downloaded (I wonder what for?) are placed in a /newgrf/ subfolder at your OpenTTD folder. Delete all files from that newgrf folder get rid of all downloaded graphics and addons.

Also, if you want to use the original graphics instead of the new ones from OpenGFX, try using OpenTTD Manager that will detect if the original graphics are missing and invite you to install them.

be aware that you cannot remove NewGRFs from existing savegames.

That's probably very bad advice, and there's no reason to do so at all. It's especially bad if he did not get every grf via ingame content download. He'll have a nice time then to find again any NewGRF he has been using in one of the existing savegames.

This is what you want to do. And like Eddi said, it won't influence existing savegames, but you can't remove NewGRFs from them anyway.

Peachie is clearly frustrated by not understanding what has happened, and not familiar enough with the interface to know how to accomplish what he or she wants.

There's no need to wipe out the installation and re-install when a simple explanation as to how to deactivate the NewGRFs is all that's needed to resolve the issue.

ok guys, i honestly have no clue what i am doing, i think i just downloaded everything that was possible to download!!! soooooooooo where am i going from here!!!

Andrex i downloaded the manager, but its giving me a message of "failed to unzip" after i have asked it to download all the original files, it tries to install them but at 99% it comes up with that failed to unzip message!
any ideas?

update!!! i now have the basic trains but no road vehicles? basic ships but no planes!! im useless!!!

im such dope!!! haha i changed the year and all the vehicles have appeared!!! thank you all

BTW, the new default start year in OTTD is now... 1900?

The default start year is 1950, as it has always been.
