Rating goes down if checkpoints are placed nearby towns?

Hello,
If there are any stations not used for a while nearby towns, the ratings of local authority go down whether there are another active stations existing or not.
Is this by-design? But I think it'd never been happened before I'd updated to alpha 21.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

I don't think this should happen.
You get high ratings by servicing stations well and loose ratings when cutting down trees.
My only guess is that the waypoint station have bad ratings when it should have no ratings at all.
But that would only happen if a train had ever stopped there.

Maybe it uses 00 as "don't display rating".

Hello,
I couldn't agree with you more, but, of course, no trains have never had stopped at any way-points. That's why I am asking people here.
Thanks anyway.

Well if for whatever reasons you have a rating for a certain cargo at a station where you don't want it, you can always use
Cht: ResetThisStation. (click to read the manual)

Hello Patchman,
Thanks for your reply. But, that's not the point for now. Maybe my explanation was not good enough. I apologize for that first.
The problem I am talking 'bout is, the rating of local authority just goes down without any apparent reasons - but only the town where has waypoints. No cutting down the trees, no removing houses, no nothing.
Any suggestions?

Ok, on each waypoint in the town build a bus stop next to it. Send 3 buses from each waypoint's bust stop to the next. This should keep those ratings nice and high.

Isn't it that you just lowered the land and maybe destroyed some houses? Because those things also have a considerable effect on your local authority ratings.

this problem happened to me also.
case 1 --- i created a station for later use and left it for decades, and the town-rating touched appauling.
case 2 --- a station with 3 (or more) waypoints made the town-rating really really appauling. i say "really really" because it took me 3 bribes to refloat it. ofcourse the served station was enjoying a good rating for every cargo.

It's true, I just checked TTD's code.
For every "bad" station within the town's transport zone, you lose 15 rating points every month. For every "good" station, you win 12 points every month. (There are 200 rating points between the various levels, you lose 35 points for clearing a tree and win 7 points for planting one.)
A station is "good" if any cargo has been picked up or deliver within the last month, otherwise it's bad. So every waypoint that's too close to the city centre (i.e. in the transport zone) costs you some ratings...

i read that "more station graphic" feature will be able to distinguish waypoints from stations in treating the order of train, is it also possible to distinguish them in the town rating ? though this can't be of priority as there's already machinations to improve town ratings practically without cost.

I've just put this in now. Those stations that are built using the "waypoint" type won't reduce town ratings.

It seems whe've come to an answer emailer, you need to move the waypoint station further away from the town.
And just to be sure, to a cht: resetthisstation on it.

*repeats self*
That's what he needs to do, not move the waypoint out of the town as moving the waypoint is inconvenient.

Or, just wait a bit until the next alpha.
