Password protection faulty in network mode

Post by edigoon »

Hallo zusammen

It would be knorkatious if you translate this to English, since this is an English-speaking forum.

See also the German TTD forum.

EDIT: Google Translate of the OP is:
Hi

We just played a round in version 1.3.3 (3 computers, one of them as a server)
My boyfriend and I have our company to assign a password.
I can not log in with him and he with me.

But:
He that the server has started, (in our case, then the audience joined)
can log in without a password in both companies.

Best Regards

First, THX to translate it.
As i registered my self in forum,
it ask me for my language.

Second:
If someone tell me, my programm is not secure
i go not on to tell him, "you are in the wrong section. read this"
i tell him: "thank you, we go to fix this"

3th.
this forum is like all other forums:
there is no praktikable overview.
i hate forums

so be lucky i tell you the programm is not secure

Thanks

Thanks for your concern.

Yet, the person who starts a (non-dedicated) server acts as server. And the server owner always has full power and can take on any company. On dedicated servers, the server owner can also move his (or any other client) into any company he or she likes without need for a password. If you don't trust the server and its owner you shouldn't play there.

It would be different, if a person who is not the server, could do the same without password.

this is not going to be changed. the server has full administrator priviliges, which includes moving (himself or other persons) into passworded companies without knowing the password.

The reason for keeping it this way is that someone has to be able to put things right if they go horribly wrong (lost passwords, etc).
The only reasonable person to have such powers is the server owner.

same counts for other games btw: on a counter-strike server, the server admin can ban users, can kick users etc...

On some Multiplayerservers, admins log in to a company that has blocked another players rails etc., so i can remove the rails, without waiting for the player or removing his entire company.

(The problem is not really a problem, from the title i guessed that passwords could have been made visible or so)
