Well Locomotion is ofcourse WAY too long a name to efficiently spam er I mean post on this forum...
There for we need an abbreviation.

L ?
Lm?

or my favorite, by patchman:
LoMo

I'd say LoMo would be best to use...
Any other ideas?

Lomo sounds fine, the problem with this game is that it's only one word, and that being a long one, so it's hard to find a nice abbrevation like TTD for it.

TT2 would do, how do we know Locomotion will be the final title?

we will never know, maybe atari will say, hey, name it TT2, then it opens up to more people.

Then again, it would only make people wonder "I don't know TT1, so I'll never understand TT2 either"...

I wonder... if they could call it Transportation tycoon (2)?

Posted: 03 Apr 2004 21:22
by Bart
Well, that would be totally dumb, since there are thousands of Tycoon games... giving it such a name will at least seperate it from the masses (not every people heard of TT, and everyone has heard of every possible Tycoon game possible)...

yeah, but if they caled it transportation tycoon then all those people who threw away or damaged their TT or TTD disks would say, transport(ation) tycoon, yeah I distantly remember that and how good it was!

a lot of TT and TTd were sold in comparsion to those in these forums, that would get confused between the two, and with Atarigrames bad rep, they'd go for it just to boost sales

Locomotion is the project name. That is what they call in internally and before a title has been given.

Considering that Chris has games like Transport Tycoon, RollerCoaster Tycoon, RollerCoaster Tycoon 2.

There is a big chance it will have Tycoon in there somewhere.

This is a management and construction game. So it is only fitting to call the game a Tycoon, since that is the name you give to a person that has control over all things business.

well i have seen a game called locomotion, made by some other company and its not that old. so i dont think they can actually use that name for a game

Locomotion Tycoon, anyone?

I still like LoMo, because it's the only two-syllable abbreviation that doesn't sound stupid :D

(And if the game seriously tanks, we can always change it to lame-o. Or if it's very laggy, to slomo. The possibilities!)

Didn't I read that CS uses Lomo himself?

I like Loco. :D
Chris Sawyer's Loco, even funnier.
And TTL is already taken by transistor-transistor-logic, but it would also be a good akronym.

Come on come on DOOOOOO the locomotion with me!

Also means Time To Live :D

I don't think there will be a name conflict on "Locomotion", the previous Locomotion games are ancient. Besides, it seems the name will be "Chris Sawyer's Locomotion". So how about CSL?

CSL? Nahh, that'll remind me of this :D Then again, I'd like to see some of the items on that page in LoMo ;)
