Title Screen Gamesave

Post by Burn Stains »

So I replaced the opentitle.dat file with my own save to change things up. Renamed the file properly, did not use any GRF's, 128X128...

When I start the game the save loads up fine but I get a message that says "missing GRF files have been disabled." Should there be a GRF or am I missing something else? I really don't want that box to pop up every time.

Thanks.

Other than renaming the savegame there's nothing special necessary.

Can you attach the savegame/titlegame of yours?

I realized I did have GRF's with this map, pretty obvious ones too, that would be my issue.

Hehe, yeah.

Yet, if you do have and keep all necessary NewGRFs available, you can use the samegame as titlegame for yourself. It simply is not suitable generally as titlegame to be distributed with OpenTTD itself - for the reasons you discovered.

Btw, there'll be soon a titlegame competition again, for the OpenTTD 1.4 series ;) - where one of the rules indeed is absence of NewGRFs

that is not possible anymore, because the title game is loaded before the GRF scan is done, so even if the GRFs are there, they cannot be opened at this stage.

It loaded some GRF's, just not the broken ones.

You're right :)

Yeah, eventually it'll load the available NewGRFs; but you'll always get the message about missing NewGRFs.
