The theme for this month is Strong and powerful.
Set by the winner of last month, vear.
"What I mean is transport can indeed be quiet, green and peaceful. However, not this time. Let's show what it hides under the hood and what it looks like when pushed to the limits!"

How to enter:
Easy - simply upload your image to this topic to enter or link it from a trusted site such as flickr, photobucket, DeviantArt, your personal website etc.
Uploading is preferred as it keeps things together. If you're linking from a URL, having a small 'preview' image and a link to a high-res image would be helpful.
If uploading direct to the wiki:
I like to keep entries in a certain named format for organisation reasons as well as keeping record of them in the entries topic and here. If you prefer to upload to the wiki, please keep it in the same naming format as other entries and inform me they are already on the wiki. Name format is - month|year|POTM_user name.
For example: 1213POTM_DaveW.jpg / 1213POTM_orudge.jpg / 1213POTM_GeoGhost.jpg / 1213POTM_Ameecher.jpg
You get the idea

If you upload to the wiki with a different format, I will have to re-upload the image again with the right name. Sorry to be picky, but I want to keep all the entries organised and in the same manner.

At the end of the month, this topic will close and a voting topic will be started with all the entries in for people to choose their top one.
All entries will be uploaded to the tt-forums wiki and stored there for voting and also for archive.
Entries close on the last day of the month, voting will be available till the 7th of each month (approximately).
The winner will need to contact me about what they want the next theme to be and then that will be posted in the entry topic for the next month. Then we repeat from there. Simple.

If you wish to change your entry, you may so long as the entries are still open. Simply upload a new one to the topic and remove your old one.
Otherwise, it may get confusing as to which one you are entering. If there are two entries submitted and you have not informed me which one you wish to be used, I will use the first one posted.

Is this theme a bit difficult for some people?

I just don't quite get it, strong and powerful as in freight trains (in which case bummer, there are non that i've ever seen on the Penistone line where I am, and the containerized waste freight through Huddersfield is somewhat dismal and unexciting), or strong and powerful as in go raid a freight yard with a hammer and picture the engine of it?

It's open to interpretation surely?

Absolutely. Seems I've done a terrible thing setting this theme I guess I'll post something to start things up.

Needs to find a freight train with the old loco, creating a hell of fumes as it pass

FYI, that was possible, but as newer, stronger loco arrive, it seems to be hard to do !

How's this for an entry? If that is not strong and powerful, I don't know what would be.

We need to run this one regardless, really, so we can do photo of the year. Doesn't really work if Photo of the Year includes an image from Jan 14! Get your photos in chaps!

Well, this is a great theme and a poor time for my camera to be broken...

Anyways, this is something I came up with... Two tugs attempting to "unpark" a freighter against 130 km/h of wind and 5-metre waves... Eventually, they've managed to pull her away from the quay.

Hoping this will help to entice you all

A set of two soviet-made M62 locomotives (designated here as ST44) running through Broad Gauge Metallurgy Line, which is the westernmost broad gauge (1524 mm) railway, connected with ex-USSR railway system.

I've always loved those M62 beasts!

Interesting, I had no idea that there is something like this in Poland.

Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of huge freight trains or high speed locos.
But I have this picture of the landing gear of an Aérospatiale-BAC Concorde dwarfing the skyline of New Jersey. If that's too stupid, disqualify me.

One week to go chaps! Keep the entries rolling in. I know many of you have some great photos and I hope to see more popping up.
if you're a bit stuck for ideas, think about the composition of a photo as well. What would make something look strong, empowering, etc. A low angle shot of an engine towering above the camera strong and impressive-like

I'd say concorde fits right in to powerful.

...and this whole undercarriage support system definitely has to fit in "strong".

Yeah, but it should either be the engine of the Concorde, or the undercarriage of an A380. Don't have that, unfortunately. But we need moar pictures!!!
