here's an example of the northern entrance to the panama canal from the atlantic. the gatun locks here lead to lake gatun, continuing sw towards pacific exit.

i'm planning to build a realistic panama canal scenario (well it will be a saved game more than a scenario since i have to add the canals in the game using a lot of cht: money command!! )

i'll search for a detailed canal map and start to build..

you know, there are small locos called mules on the each side of the locks to help pull the vessels between chambers. could any of us who can build grf files build these locos, too?

EXCELLENT! This will be an excellent scenario for those of us that like to use ships. Currently my favourite scenario is an Atlantic Ocean one I found (and my Great Lakes one as well). I love using ships, they'll carry A LOT, they're just rather slow.

Looking forward to this scenario once it's done.

upgraded lock design

here is a new design for gatun locks..

*BR-194 electric engines look like mules, so i used them.
*i placed electric rails to move the engines, then used "cht: tracks 0 1" to convert them back to normal. i also demolished the depots from which the mules came out.
*i placed a station in between because there is a building between the locks in the real. But in order to use two mules, i placed a two*lane track and station. Now i want to see only one building :p i think it's impossible
*i renamed the buoys with a trick that i learned from these forums :) i placed a shipdepot next to a buoy, then demolished it, after demolishing normal land occurs, i put a road station there which combined with the buoy's name, and then renamed it. then i demolished the station and put canal onto the demolished land.

i hope you like it! any comments will help me :)
