thanks all sites helped out a bit. but now I face a new dilemma, i downloaded that patch (for some unknown reason) and it affected my online download version of the game. it keeps telling me to insert my locomotion disc, but i downloaded it from Atari directly. I feel like there's no hope and i have to repurchase the game and start from scratch.

I'm not sure. But it may be that you do not need the patch. Assure you which version of the game is that you have loaded. (Click the Start screen on the logo. This will open a bright blue window.) If it is version 4.02.176 you may not install the patch.

Here you would have paid less. And this version does not need a patch.
