The funny thing is, you can add hundres of types of rail...
I vote for a customizable GUI... and mod support...

A new graphics system with support for 32-bit color graphics. No waving around with a palette, or the need to code a graphics into TTD... simply a single GIF or something, and a configuration file...

All the functions of the Patch
All the things on the "impossible" list of the Patch
No, seriously, the question isn't what we want, we know perfectly well what we want. The question is, where do we start, and who does the starting?

i think we should start from the bug fixing becouse the game is still very bugy!

Probably, but you also want to bear in mind where you want to go, so you don't wind up having to rewrite sections because you decided to do something else. For instance I would imagine that the bridge code would need to be rewritten to allow for differing heights, and perhaps rewritten to allow for signals-on-bridges.

Well, I personally intend to clean up the code, change references from Transport Tycoon Deluxe to OpenTTD where appropriate and so on, and generally make OpenTTD 0.1 into a usable version of TTD that works as you would expect 'proper' TTD to work. I then would hope to integrate some of the simpler TTDPatch functions into OpenTTD. (Things like the sign cheats, by the way, can have their own menu, instead of having to use signs now). Then, well, we'll see.

Umm, 32-bit graphics and GIF are mutually exclusive - GIF files are 8-bit only

. (Not to mention some countries still have GIF patents)
PNG and MNG files, on the other hand, . . . are 32-bit compatible

.
I personally want more flexible airports - perhaps even be able to make airports by combining components (runways, towers, etc)?
Making the other types of transportation more interesting and useful would be good.
Cleaning up the code would be good. Cleaning up the code and debugging should be the top two priorities right now.

I agree, then, as well as new buildings etc, we can touch them up with the new colours!

Easy, just make it support multiple graphics formats of whatever you choose to use. GIFs and PNGs for start, maybe JPGs. Don't worry about the GIF patents, no country seriously enforces them and anyway, this is not a for-profit program so there's no damages.

Is it just me, or is this starting to look like the TE wishlist?

Of course, all the wishlists are the same. Thats' why I think this is a pointless exercise, we all know what we want, and mostly the priorities also.

Well, when we get the SourceForge project up and running, there will be a task list, and we can add tasks there, prioritise them, assign tasks to developers, and so on.

It's good to hear more people have the need for structure

I think higher bridges would be a medium priority, mainly because we have gone without them for many years and can go without them for a bit longer.

My wishlist is nicely summarised

maybe elevated maglev track and elevated maglev stations for you, prof

Well, here's how difficult I rate the things on the TTDPatch "impossible changes list" list for OpenTTD:
Higher bridges: Difficult. Not impossible, but would require a lot of work with the graphics engine.
Diagonal bridges, tunnels: Same.
More cargo types: Should be relatively easy. I'd probably reprogram it so it reads the cargo types dynamically from somewhere.
More stations or depots: Again, relatively easy, just up the appropriate array and variable sizes.
Joining more than one of each station facility type in a single station: May take a bit of work.
Larger airports (more runways): Would be a fair bit of work. Very rewarding to do though, I think.
Larger maps: Should actually be quite easy.
A patch for the original Transport Tycoon: Doesn't really apply.
