hi, newbie here, can't believe there's such a forum about this game! Anyway, i am having a problem with TTDX, i have tried downloading three different version of TTDX win from this site, and when i start a random game in 1930, in one version, there are no vehicles available except for the sampson plane, and in another version, all the vehicles are available, except for train engines, i'm a bit confused as to why this is happening, can anyone shed any light. The game seems to run perfectly otherwise

cheers
rick

Hello moondog, and welcome to the forums.
This is because TTD is designed to start in 1950, but TTDPatch sets the default start year back to 1930 to allow for longer gameplay.
Find 'startyear 1930' in your ttdpatch.cfg and change it to read 'startyear 1950'
Or edit the introduction years through TTDAlter

HE READ IT! Anyway I've an actual question for ya'll now. We don't have an arbitrary game end year (anymore), so why is our default still 1930? The same patch that by default removes the end year by default sets the year at 1930.

Well, chaos and confusion of course, for those unable to read.

BTW, would you care to describe how eternalgame and startyear are the same?

I sure didn't say they were. In fact, they are mutually exclusive in intent.
The purpose of the 1930 start year to allow a longer game when there is a defined ending year.

Just saying it's pretty wacky to have both set by default.

startyear sets default starting year for TTD games, eternalgame makes more years (date does not stop count at 2070 can reach much more bigger values)

tip: everything is in WIKI http://wiki.ttdpatch.net

the score is still determined in 2050.

more playing time for multiplayer of when you're trying to break a record
