Locomotion wont work on windows 8

I recently got a new computer with windows 8, and upon installing loco, go to start, checks OBJdata, then says unable to initialize graphics system... Any ideas

Other than "Use Windows 7 since Windows 8 is awful for a PC (but good for a Tablet)", Does Windows 8 have any compatibility settings? That would be my first port of call. It might also be a directX issue, if for some reason Windows 8 isn't supporting older iterations of DirectX.

I had it working on windows 7 by installing directx, but I just dragged all files onto my new pc from my old, at first thought it was directx, installed it with another game and it installed fine but loco still didnt work. And trust me, windows 8 is not for tablets everyone, the start menu may look like it but you can go to the desktop and use it regularly. Ill see if there are some compatibility settings

Not sure, like I said I used a game that automatically installs the new version, so probably the newest because i just got it like 3 days ago

let me see.. either 1GB AMD Radeon(TM) HD 7670M Discrete-Class Graphics

Thats Weird Because I run Windows 8 and I have Locomotion installed and it runs fine? (But i got it off a paid website...) www.GOGgames.com

The best way to get it to work is to set it to whatever previous windows version it last worked on. In my case, it's windows 7.

It's due to Locomotion been an old game, I had this problem with Fallout 3 when I downloaded it off Steam. Simply, left click on Locomotion, click Properties, go to the Compatibility. Look for Compatibility Settings, click the tick in the box and then select the "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)", that should do it but to be on the safe side, on the same option screen tick the "Run this program as an administrator" box. I hope that works for you!

Well i use W8 to and i have some different issues, but i run it as administrator and in compatibility mode every time and it works:)
