Just a wild guess. OTTD uses squirrel 2.x. Can you find the "base." syntax on this page?
http://www.squirrel-lang.org/doc/squirrel2.html
I can only find the syntax with the explicit name of the base class.

Is 2.x version number or is it 2.something, not sure what (I want to update wiki)?

'x' in version numbers like 2.x is commonly meant to be "some number", ie 2.something
('x' is just a lot shorter than 'something'

)
