Problem with FIRS sawmill not producing

I have a game where I am using the FIRS industry replacement set. I have a chain set up between a forest, sawmill, and lumber yard. I have a train that loads the wood (full load), then goes to the sawmill and unloads. It then goes to a depot and is automatically refit for lumber and returns to the sawmill. I then have it wait for 15 days, and it then proceeds to the lumber yard. The problem is that when I drop off 120 wood, I only pick up 21 of lumber. I should be getting 6 per 8, not 1 per 6! Also, when I look at the sawmill, it reports the right amount lumber produced, but only 20% transported. I've watched the station, and it never appears in the waiting queue.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on? I am totally confused.

Thanks,
Erick

the "% transported" is an average over the station rating, and is multiplied with the production, so if you input 120t (=8*15) wood, you get 6*15=90t "raw" production, but only 90*0.20=18t (plus rounding errors, etc.) get actually moved to the station.

newer FIRS has a modified station rating calculation that makes it less dependent on the time since last pickup.

Thanks for the info. So what impacts the output that actually makes it to the station? It seems like some industries/factories output a lot to the station while others do not. Is it a catchment area issue?

Thanks,
Erick

Only the station rating.

FIRS has an option in the NewGRF screen to always set station ratings to 100%, though you might consider it cheating I would say it were more realistic, as long as you'd transport everything an industry produces :P

Yexo - thanks for the info, that makes sense now.

Kasper - I might consider it cheating if the game wasn't so agressive with station ratings. It seems like the station rating system is rather messed up.

Thanks,
Erick

I forgot to ask - how do I modify NewGRF settings?

I don't have my game in english, but access the 'newgrf settings' either from the main menu or ingame (if you want the changes to affect the current game), select the FIRS Industry Set and in the right bottom of that screen you will be able to click on 'adjust parameters' or something of the sort, you can edit the settings in that window :)

Perhaps I am missing something obvious, but I'm not seeing that option. I've attached a screenshot of what I can see.

Thanks,
Erick

you can only change NewGRF settings before starting a new game, not in savegames or scenarios.

Got it. I opened up the edit window for the industry replacement, but I am not seeing the option for the station rating. (see attached)

Thanks,
Erick

You should download FIRS 0.7.0 for that functionality :)

ahhh - I only used the in-game browser/downloader, which has 0.6.4. Upgrading OpenTTD to the newest version found the new FIRS Industry Set, and also has new features that I didn't know about. Fun times!

Thanks
