Don't know if it's appropriate forum but I wonder what is Brake van/tender used for? It does not increase power nor speed of whole train. So what's this for? Or it's just eye-candy?

Some sets like UKRS and NARS require the use of brake vans on certain trains (see: http://users.tt-forums.net/pikka/wiki/i ... le=Caboose). Trains that meet those qualifications aren't allowed to leave the depot unless they have a brake van.
