OpenTTD 1.1.2-RC1
As of last Sunday you can obtain the first release candidate OpenTTD 1.1.2-RC1 for the next upcoming stable release.
As usual a number of bugs found since the last release have been fixed in this version. Among those fixes such nasty ones as where the current vehicle's order got changed in conjunction with goto-nearest-depot orders as well as a possible desync in network games.
Please enjoy and test this release candidate such that the next release will not suffer from any unexpected issues. You can obtain it from the usual download location, the full changelog is also available there next to it.

Thank you for your continuing efforts on our behalf. Unfortuantely, I cannot use the new game, as there is no installer downloadable from the server. If there is a simple way of installing it oneself, could you let me know please

Yes. Get the zip and extract it into a directory of your choice. If you do not have a previous OpenTTD install you put the base graphics (e.g. OpenGFX) into the data folder.Willsims wrote:Thank you for your continuing efforts on our behalf. OK, thanks for that. Please excuse my ignorance, but if I extract it to my current OpenTTD directory, will it overwrite the files as neccessary, and still work, or should I put it in a different directory?

Either is fine and depends on what you want. If you extract all fines, including those in the subdirectories, replacing the ones of a previous OpenTTD install should work fine.Willsims wrote:OK, thanks for that. Re: OpenTTD 1.1.2-RC1
it is recommended to use a different directory. I.e you should rename the one you currently have, and unpack into an empty folder.
unpacking into an existing folder might work, but unforseen things might go wrong, like not being able to overwrite some files.

Yes I agree with Eddi. What I do is:
1. copy my existing directory into a different upper directory.
2. Unpack the new version into its directory.
3. copy this directory over the top of the old one, overwriting any files of the same name.
4. test it and, if OK, delete the old version, rename and play with this.

Another solution (windows only) is to use the OpenTTD Auto Updater. It takes a little bit of time to install and configure, but is worth it if you often update which is especially true if you run the nightlies.
